Tilley Expands Role for Phillips Realty and EB5 Capital

Phillips Realty COO and CFO Joe Tilley has taken on the additional role of CFO of EB5 Capital, Phillips Realty's joint venture partner in the EB-5 immigrant investor industry. Tilley will oversee Phillips Realty's operations, financial reporting, and accounting functions, as well as the firm's $2 billion loan servicing portfolio. In addition, he will be responsible for overseeing all of EB5's finances and investments, including reporting to foreign investors and establishing controls to safeguard EB5's assets.
Nancy Oliver will serve as Phillips Realty's accounting manager following the change. She has been overseeing Phillips Realty's accounting functions for the past three years. Caroline Andersen will serve as EB5's director of finance and accounting. Her previous experience includes working for Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP.

Commodore Builders Appoints CFO, Managing Director of Operations

Commodore Builders expanded its executive platform with the hiring of Dave Jolin and Tom Winterhalter (pictured, right) in the firm's Newton, MA office. Jolin will handle the planning and management of financial goals as the company's CFO. Prior to joining Commodore Builders, Jolin served as vice president and senior regional controller at Gilbane Building Co.
Winterhalter will assist in the efficiency of operations by reviewing and evaluating the organization of business procedures as managing director of operations. Winterhalter joins the firm from Redgate Real Estate Advisors, where he served as senior project director.

Langer Joins Crossman & Co

Rodney Langer has joined the investment sales team at Crossman & Company in Boca Raton, FL. In his new role, Langer will provide acquisition and disposition services to owners of shopping centers and net-leased retail assets in Miami.
Prior to joining Crossman, Langer served as the president of Investors CRE, Inc. located in Coral Gables. Langer is a 2015 recipient of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce's "Real Estate Achievers & Leaders Award" and is a member of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables and the Board of Realtors - Realtors Commercial Alliance.

Akerman Appoints Transactional Partner in Denver

Akerman LLP has hired former Polsinelli senior partner Howard Gelt as a transactional partner in the firm's real estate practice group. Gelt will provide business insight to the firm's clients in complex real estate and corporate transactions across the state.Gelt has more than 30 years of experience as a legal advisor to owners and developers with a focus on commercial and residential real estate development and public and private financing. He has also served as lead counsel for several master-planned, mixed-use developments. Gelt previously served as the president and CEO of a retail company.

REBNY Promotes Whelan to EVP

The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) has promoted James Whelan to executive vice president. Most recently a senior vice president with the group, Whelan will continue to lead the REBNY's initiative to tackle various political, communication, and advocacy issues in the industry while managing REBNY's relations with various business and trade associations around New York City and the rest of the state.
Before joining REBNY, Whelan served as a senior vice president for public affairs at Muss Development, where he oversaw the firm's governmental, political, and community relations efforts and managed many of its development projects.

BentleyForbes Taps Boros as Managing Director

Gustavo Boros has joined BentleyForbes in Los Angeles as a managing director. In his new role, Boros will oversee the company's commercial real estate investments, including asset management options, raising equity capital, financing, and acquisitions, as well as managing tenant relations and exploring joint-venture opportunities.
Boros previously held executive-level positions at Actaeon Capital Group LLC, US Commercial LLC, Bascom Group LLC, and Merrill Lynch. Throughout his career he has been involved in more than $500 million in completed transactions and over $15 billion in underwriting across major U.S. markets.

Debbie Lane, CPM has joined Colliers International as a senior vice president of real estate management services (REMS). In her new role, Lane will lead the company's statewide property management initiatives in addition overseeing the management of more than 12 million square feet of commercial properties across South Carolina.
Lane most recently served as a senior vice president and Eastern Region real estate services manager for Bank of America, NA. She holds the Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation and is also an emeritus member of the National Association of Trust Real Estate.
