The Best Natural and Home Remedies For Acne

People who have acne have many treatment options available to them, as there are plenty of OTC and prescription medications. Yet there are also many simple and inexpensive home remedies you can buy or prepare. Many of them consist of things you would likely have in your home already. So if you're interested in acne home remedies, keep reading because we'll share a few with you.

One of the most effective remedies for acne is tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is similar in properties as OTC and prescription medications for acne. Although most people wouldn't normally have tea tree oil at home, it's not at all hard to find at stores or online.

Many ailments can be treated with tea tree oil, and for those who have acne problems, this natural remedy is effective. Similar to benzoyl peroxide and other acne medications, tea tree oil has anti-bacterial properties. Tea tree oil should only be used in diluted form, as it can cause skin irritations if you apply concentrated oil directly to the skin. One widely used home remedy is garlic. It can be effective when taken internally or applied to the skin when you have a problem such as acne. Garlic is a natural anti-bacterial agent. To use it as an acne home remedy, mash up some garlic with a mortar and pestle or with a food grinder. Apply the garlic to the acne and leave it there for several minutes. Garlic has a strong odor, though, so you should thoroughly wash it off afterwards. It's important, however, that you be careful when washing your face. Avoid scrubbing it too hard to avoid irritating your skin.

This next remedy for acne is something you use every day: toothpaste. Gel toothpastes won't work for this, though; you have to get the regular kind. What about whitening toothpaste? That's a no go either because it'll be too harsh on the skin. Your acne can heal a lot faster when you apply ordinary white toothpaste on the affected areas. Toothpaste actually works very much like how a facial mask works: it absorbs the oils on the skin and promotes clearer skin.

Acne sufferers would naturally be interested in treatments that will help them eliminate the problem fast. Often, acne can be treated successfully by natural and home remedies. However, you're going to have to see a dermatologist and have stronger medication prescribed if your acne is severe.
