Redfin Brings Its Real Estate Brokerage to Columbia and Greenville, South Carolina, and Omaha, Nebraska
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Redfin (www.redfin.com),

the customer-first real estate brokerage, today announced the launch of

its home-buying and selling services in Columbia

and Greenville,

South Carolina, as well as in Omaha,

Nebraska. People in these areas can now search for homes on

Redfin.com and the Redfin iOS and Android apps.

"We've expanded to many new markets in 2015, but markets in South

Carolina and Nebraska have long been on our radar as they help us bring

our home-buying and selling services to more and more people along the

East Coast and in the Midwest," said Redfin Southeast District Manager

James Marks. "Residents in these areas have heard about Redfin from

their friends, colleagues and neighbors for years, and we're pleased to

offer them the chance to use our technology and work with our agents

themselves."

The

Redfin model is different from that of other brokerages because it

uniquely aligns agent and customer interests. Redfin agents are paid a

salary and receive benefits, with customer satisfaction ratings -- not

transactions -- determining each agent's bonuses. All reviews for all

Redfin agents are published on their online profiles.

Redfin also works to put money back into the pockets of both its

home-buying and selling customers. Everyone who buys a home with a

Redfin agent in Columbia, Greenville and Omaha will receive a refund at

closing, the amount of which varies according to the home's list price

on Redfin.com.

Redfin charges sellers a 1.5 percent fee instead of the typical 3

percent commission, while providing a beginning-to-end home-selling

service, from pricing and staging advice and professional photography

through the negotiation and closing processes. On average, someone selling

a home with a Redfin agent saves about $6,800. Redfin has saved its

customers more than $200 million in real estate fees to date.

Jim

Brown, South Carolina - Brown grew up on the east side of

Greenville and, after serving in the U.S. Army and graduating from the

University of South Carolina, began his real estate career in 1994

with a local residential brokerage. He has since led the sales

operation of a large regional builder, worked in lifestyle and resort

communities throughout the southwestern United States, and most

recently was a managing broker for ERA Wilder Realty Inc. Brown has

been paying close attention to Redfin's expansion, and jumped at the

chance to grow the business in South Carolina.

Jessica

Redmond, Columbia - Born and raised in Columbia, Redmond has been

a real estate broker since 2005. Having worked closely with Brown at

ERA Wilder Realty Inc., she shares Brown's passion for the Redfin

mission of changing real estate in consumers' favor. She's looking

forward to bringing the people of Columbia state-of-the-art technology

Travis

Thomas, Omaha - While an undergraduate at the University of

Nebraska - Omaha, Thomas started his real estate career spending his
