Forward Jessica McDonald's second-half goal helped the Dash earn a 1-1 draw with Sky Blue FC at Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J.
Sky Blue struck first after a handball near midfield. Kelley O'Hara dribbled to the endline on the left side, then cut back and passed to Katy Freels 7 yards out from goal. Freels roofed her shot over Dash goalkeeper Erin McLeod for her first goal of the season.
The Dash (1-0-1) responded early in the second half.
Dash midfielder Morgan Brian latched on to an Allysha Chapman pass and found herself alone on the right side.
The No. 1 draft pick floated in a cross over Sky Blue goalkeeper Brittany Cameron, allowing McDonald to redirect the ball into the goal from close range.
