Tis the weekend to be merry because there's a host of events going on all over the metroplex.

Surely one of these fetes will whet your whistle or at least inspire you to come out of hibernation now that spring has sprung.

Cowtown Goes Green, March 14@12-5 p.m.

Put a western spin on St. Patrick's Day by celebrating at Stockyards Station's Cowtown Goes Green event. There will be plenty of things to keep the family entertained, from a petting zoo, gunfights and armadillo races to face painting, live music and games. Be sure to stick around until 4 p.m. for the cattle drive and Western/Irish themed Cowtown Goes Green parade.

Start the morning off by donning your green for this charity 5K run/walk down Greenville Ave before the big parade kicks off. There will be beer, food, a live band and cash prizes. Proceeds benefit the North Texas Food Bank

Then stick around to join more than 125,000 revelers in one of the largest street parties in the state. Expect to see more than 90 floats travel along the 2 mile route. It's guaranteed to be a blast.

Mansfield Pickle Parade Palooza, March 14 @ 10 a.m.

The pickle capital of Texas goes green for St Paddy's Day with everything from a 5K and 10K Pickle Run on Saturday starting at 7 a.m. to dance and costume contests, a parade, a pickle playground, live music, food, beer and more.

No worries if you can't make it down to Austin for SXSW, instead, you can check out this 3-day music festival, which includes more than 250 acts-- ranging from cutting edge new artists to legendary performers. Expect to see everyone from Kim The Created and The Zombies to local faves like Doug Burr and Sealion playing all over the city's downtown area.

There's always something going on at Dallas' favorite urban park, but this Saturday's event promises to be extra special for everyone. Activities include: an ode to Venice Beach-- with a caricature artist, magician, airbrush tattoos and juggling; Coney Island themed arcade games and carnival activities; a Hawaiian adventure with "turbo surfing" and lei making; a South Beach club scene featuring specialty drinks; and a Caribbean dance party with a pirate-themed obstacle course.
