The Lumière brothers! the invention of cinema

To mark the 120th anniversary of the Cinematograph, the Lumière Institute organizes a new exhibition dedicated to the flagship inventions Lyonnais pioneers of cinema, Louis and Auguste Lumière, whose history is intimately linked to Paris: the first paid public show was thus organized at the Salon Indien du Grand Café 28 December 1895 and the Lumière brothers presented the first films in 75 mm at the 1900 World Expo near the Grand Palace ...

Rich, creative and avant-garde work of the Lumière brothers was motivated by a fascination with still or moving images.

The cinematograph, apparatus at once to film, make copies and project them, putting the Autochrome color photography within the reach of all, through the Photorama first successful trial of views projection 360 °. The first part of the exhibition presents the many innovations of the Lumière family that marked the advent of a technical epic, artistic and universal industrial changing: the cinema. Much space is devoted to the dissemination, in various forms, the 1500 film Light.
