Day 6 - We've traveled to Knysna, oyster capital of the world. There we boarded a ferry and sailed to Featherbed Nature Reserve. 4x4 Jeeps then took us to the summit of the Western Heads for breathtaking views of the sea. From there we did a downhill hike through forest to the crashing waves on the coast. (It's the most dangerous bay on earth for boats which sail these waters and thus are unable to even get insurance.) A fresh seafood buffet greets us at the Food Forest set under a canopy of milkwood trees. In departing this little piece of paradise, I noticed the pier is black covered in mussels. Rare seahorses are bred here. These remarkable creatures mate for life and it's the male that gives birth.
Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest intact caldera, which is a collapsed volcano. In fact, because of the masses of life that surround the caldera, it has been called Africa's Eden. Don't expect to see people moving in any time soon, either. The only people who are allowed to live on these lands are an indigenous tribe, the Masai. But that doesn't mean you aren't allowed to explore the wonders of the Crater. Set up a reservation at a location nearby, such as the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. Built near the crater's edge, the right room can yield a stunning view from morning until well into the night when the moon comes out and animals roam, ready and awake.
#9- cheap buffalo hunts- When faced with a predator, cheap buffalo hunts's charge head on. That's 1,500 pounds of beast topped off with two big, sharp horns. You're lucky if there's only one - the real danger comes when a herd of thousands stampedes in your direction. They have few natural predators other then humans. Known as one of the big five in Africa, The cheap buffalo hunts can be a vilatile and formidable beast, goring, trampling and killing several people a year.
An even more thrilling form of launch is rarely done now-a-days. It was called a reflex launch. The tow rope, yes a rope not a wire or cable, had a bit of stretch in it. It was attached to the glider's release point at one end, and the other end was attached to a powerful car. A loop was laid out to set a certain amount of slack in the rope, before the car went charging off down the airstrip. TWANG. I remember seeing a Blanik L13 with 2 people on board lunge off the ground in maybe 3 meters (10 feet) and commence climbing like a home-sick angel. Ah those were the days.
There will be many breath taking views to be seen. Every place will be a little bit different but will have a lot of bush, mountains and open savannah to see. Every kind of animal will like a different kind of terrain so it in order to see each one, there will be a lot of terrain to see. Every African safari holiday is going to be amazing.
What team do you support? Did they make it to the thirty two teams to have progressed to the competition in cheap african hunts? All teams playing in the competition will have designed special jerseys just for the event. It is not difficult to get hold of your team's colors to wear on your sleeve for all to see.
