But then came the announcement of the planned 1.5 percent raise. For Waynesboro Public Schools, that’s a total increase of $330,000. The state pays one third of that, or $110,000 and the district has to pick up the remaining $220,000. That brings the shortfall back to $416,446 and district officials have to start asking hard questions, in order to balance the budget. Between cutting employees or asking the city to raise taxes, there are no good answers here. click here
