My story with clutter began when I was just kid. When I was 12 years old I got my own bedroom, and that was a glorious event. And when I was about 14 years old I realized my room was just totally cluttered up with all kinds of books and all kinds of crap from my mom who was using it as a kind of overflow storage area for the rest of the house. And our house was really cluttered when we we're growing up. My mom was running her business, it was a textile design studio out of the house and there was so much stuff, just so much stuff. It used to drive me crazy because you see, I am a Virgo, and as a Virgo, sometimes clutter can really get me crazy.
As a Virgo, it's very interesting for me because I'm a Virgo with a Gemini rising, and that means I'm kind of both. Especially because of that Gemini aspect, I have two strong aspects of my personality. One being the Virgo, sometimes clutter happens man and I just get nuts. Clutterers Anonymous has crossed my mind on more than one occasion. Then other times, as the Gemini it really doesn't bother me so much.
I can go and let something like my closet get really, really cluttered, but then I'll just go in there and everything's gotta be just perfect.
All my shirts are going to be ordered according to color, and it's just gonna look awesome when we get done with it.
In the meantime, a big part of The Last Year of Your Life this year is going to be about decluttering your life so that number one we put the affairs of your life in order.
The Last Year of Your Life is a program where we have this idea that everyone who is doing it is living as if it is going to be the last year of your life.
So, my idea for this year is that hey, if it is the last year of your life, you should get all your things in order. All of your affairs should be in order, you should not leave a cluttered mess for somebody else to clean-up. That's number one.
Number two, The Last Year of Your Life is really about creating opportunities for bigger and better things to come into your life. You may have heard this saying that you have to clear out space for something new to come in. With all the psychic tentacles of clutter, pulling you back and holding you down, it's hard to make new things happen.
We're gonna do a big portion of this series about clutter and decluttering your life.
