Well, I can safely say that I believe that my lunch with the CVB was a success! It was scheduled for 1pm at Davio’s. I showed up at 1:03pm and I was the first one there. I decided to wait at the table and not the lounge and after 5 minutes of waiting I started freaking out, sifting through emails, trying to find contact information, deciding that if they didn’t show up by 1:30pm then I’d just order alone.
But low and behold…they showed up at 1:10p!
Christina and Ann were great. Christina and I actually graduated in the same year, she went to CUA in DC and came back to Philly. I explained to her that I’m originally from the DC area and came up for school and fell in love with the city.
I feel like I was friendly, present, upbeat, engaging, and most importantly…very comfortable. I think I represented myself and Radisson Blu very well and it was probably because I felt…comfortable. I think once Christina told me that she graduated the same year as I, it was an instant connection because not only were we in college at the same time but we also shared similar experiences and are going through similar life experiences as we navigate the world as early-mid 20-somethings that don’t quite feel like adults, but aren’t kids anymore.
Christina shared with me some of the coverage that we have garnered overseas. Working in the Tourism department, they’re primary responsibility is getting publications from overseas over to Philadelphia, hosting them on their visit, and ensuring positive coverage of the city which I thought was pretty effing cool. I told them a little bit of what Radisson Blu is doing as far as branding, imaging, and relaunch. I shared with them our PR structure, Phase II of our renovation, and how much I just loved the city. And they appreciated my blue PHL pin.
I would probably give myself a 93 out of 100. I was thinking that maybe I should’ve brought some collateral like they did, they shared with me the new International Visitor’s Guide and some other things. That and I feel like my goal was the let them know that I really wanted to work for them, but I don’t think I drove that point home as hard as I’d like. But I know that they know I’m pretty competent, love the city, and great to work with so I think moving forward, our relationship with the CVB will be more tight and I will be reaching out to them more whenever there is a promotion that we need to push. They’re craving that and said that the Kimpton is probably one of few that reaches out.
I hope great things are going to come from my new relationship with the CVB…and now I’m wondering if I should start doing with they did and set up lunches and meeting with different city organizations and introduce myself and the hotel? Hmm………..Yes.
Oh...and Rob and I are cool again. We literally have gone through this so many times that it's...almost nothing at this point. As long as I don't do no other s**t I guess it's okay. I'm just...more cautious I guess. Like I said...clearly that night at Houlihan's didn't exist....and he didn't mean his words...so I'll just keep on keeping on and try to remember that he believes me to be a liar, demon, and all-around evil so I have to take everything he says and does with a grain of salt...I guess. Sigh. xp
Love. heart
