How to eradicate aphids
Carnation Non-Fat Dry Milk.

Mix Carnation Non-Fat Dry Milk with water according to the instructions on the box, fill a trigger-spray bottle with the solution, and mist the infected plants with the solution. The aphids get stuck in the milky residue as it dries on the plant leaves.

Country Time Lemonade.

Mix four teaspoons Country Time Lemonade powdered drink mix and two cups water in a six-teen-ounce trigger-spray bottle. Spray the mixture on plant leaves being attacked by aphids. The limonoids in the mixture kill the pests.

Domino Sugar.

Spraying a solution of one part sugar with ten parts water onto aphid-susceptible plants attracts beneficial insects that feed on aphids.

Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap.

Mix one tablespoon Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap with two cups water in a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle and spray on plants to repel aphids. The mint drives them away.

Ivory Dishwashing Liquid.

Mix one-half ounce Ivory Dishwashing Liquid and two cups water in a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle. Spray on both sides of infested plant leaves, let sit for one hour, then spray clean with water.

ReaLemon.

Mix four teaspoons ReaLemon lemon juice and two cups water in a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle. Spray the mixture on plant leaves being attacked by aphids. The limonoids in the lemon oil in the mixture kill the pests.

Reynolds Wrap.

Place sheets of Reynolds Wrap on the ground between rows of plants and secure in place with rocks. In the sunlight, the glittering foil keeps away insects like thrips and aphids. Check the tomato plants daily to make sure the aluminum foil is not reflecting too much light back onto the plant, burning it.

Smirnoff Vodka.

To keep aphids off houseplants, wash the aphids off the plants with tap water, then mix one-half cup Smirnoff Vodka and 1.5 cups water in a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle and spray on plant leaves in the cool of the day. Do not use alcohol on delicate plants such as African violets.

Star Olive Oil and Ivory Dishwashing Liquid.

Mix one cup Star Olive Oil, three drops Ivory Dishwashing Liquid, and two cups water in a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle. Spray the plants with the solution, then spray the plants with water.

Tang.

Mix four teaspoons Tang drink mix and two cups water in a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle. Spray the mixture on plant leaves being attacked by aphids. The limonoids in the mixture kill the pests.

Wesson Corn Oil and Ivory Dishwashing Liquid.

Oils sprayed as an emulsion in water can be an effective control against aphids. Mix one ounce Wesson Corn Oil, three drops Ivory Dishwashing Liquid, and two cups water in a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle.

Wilson Tennis Balls and Vaseline Petroleum Jelly.

To kill aphids, use an electric drill with a one-eighth-inch bit to drill a hole in a Wilson Tennis Ball, screw an eyehook into the hole, give the ball a thick coat of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, and hang it over the afflicted plant. Aphids, lured to the color yellow, get stuck in the gooey petroleum jelly and die.

ZiplOC Storage Bags.

To make the process of killing aphids less messy, place a Ziploc Storage Bag around each yellow ball and coat the plastic bags with the Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. This way, when the bags get coated with bugs you can simply replace the bags.

The aphid has a tube for a mouth. The insect uses this tube to pierce the stems of plants and suck out the juices.

Predators usually gobble up aphids, unless, of course, the sprays used on plants in the hopes of killing aphids also repel the beneficial insects.

Aphids excrete a sweet fluid called honeydew, a favorite food of the ant. Ants are known to protect colonies of aphids so they can feast on an endless supply of honeydew. The ants will also move the aphids from one plant to another to help sustain the colony.

Gardening data files is worth investigating :- www.gardeningdatafiles.com

Aphids reproduce through a process called parthenogenesis. Males and females mate in the fall, causing the females to lay fertilized eggs that hatch in the spring. Only female aphids hatch. The female aphids give birth to living female aphids hatched from unfertilized eggs in their bodies. This fatherless process continues for several generations, until the fall, when aphids develop into males and females, restarting the cycle.

In ancient Greece, King Aphidas ruled Tegea and was the father of Aleus, who built a Temple of Athena in Tegea .

Nicknamed 'plant lice,' aphids can be green, black, pink, or yellow.

Aphid is the name of a heat-seeking missile that homes in on an enemy jet's fiery exhaust.
