ALA concentrations in the PLX4720 (A) and urine (B). ALA concentrations were measured as described in Materials and methods. The urinary ALA concentration was normalized to the creatinine concentration in urine. Rats were kept singly for 5 days in a normal cage (control) or in a cage (5 d) filled with water (23 ± 1 °C) to a height of 1.5 cm (water cage). In addition to these groups, other rats were returned to their normal cage for 1 day after the session in the water cage for 5 days (5 d + 1 d). Moreover, a fourth group of rats was food-restricted (food-restricted; 7.5 g/day) in normal cages for 5 days. The values are the means ± SEM (n = 5–11). ??P spleen (Fig. 2C) and blood (Fig. 2D), decrease in ALAD activity was observed in fatigued and food-restricted rats. Interestingly, Fig. 2A showed a fatigue-specific decrease in the ALAD activity in the liver.
