Pantai Kerachut or Kerachut Beach is a lovely stretch of white sandy seaside located in the Penang Nationwide Park on Click Here…. Island and hosts the Penang Turtle Sanctuary just powering the beach. There is also a very rare meromictic lake here (a lake of two layers of salt and fresh water that don't mix) but actually you can't definitely see that much, just looks like any other lake and sometimes the lake is totally empty.

By using these a beautiful beach and especially if you have just walked through the rainforest and are sweaty and hot, you may be influenced to take a swim.

Take a walk to the jetty, before you do.

Unfortunately this beach has a bit of a problem with Jellyfish - Big Jellyfish! How to get to Pantai Kerachut

You have a collection of either hiring a vessel from the entrance of your National Park at Teluk Bahang which will cost you around 100RM for the whole boat which could take around 10 people, or you can walk in through the park your car in under 2 hours.

Trekking to Kerachut Beach

There are 2 paths through the rainforest to the beach. The easiest and initially way is to walk for 1/2 km along the coast from the park entry and take the initial left up on the hill and down again the other part - This pathway is quite wide, simple to follow and not too large.

The other and somewhat longer way is to head to the Canopy Pathway and continue in the hill from there where it meets the initial path near the top of the hill. This route is a lotnarrower and steeper, less applied and with much more woodland debris littered more than it making it more difficult to walk along.

About the way down from the top of the mountain there is also another break up in the path. Turning left will take you around the lake to the camp website if you keep going straight this will take you to some bridge over the meromictic lake at the end of the beach.
