One you know where you are going, learn about it. Buy a map of the area in which you are visiting, learn about the environment, and find tourist attractions. If you have a basic idea of where you are going and what you are doing, you will find that your trip goes more smoothly.

Be careful, and remember any food allergies while visiting other countries. If your food allergy is particularly bad, make sure to express this in their language. This will give you the ability to alert your waiter or waitress of the foods that you have an allergy to so that they can be kept out of your meals.

When you are planning for a trip, consider the nature of your trip before choosing a digital camera. If you plan to do some backpacking, you might not want a rechargeable battery. In almost all cases, you will want a digital camera that can be turned on and focused very quickly so that you don't miss the shot.

First thing to do when you get into your hotel room is to check the alarm clock. Some travelers find themselves awakened at three or four in the morning by alarm clocks that the previous occupant of the room set. Set the alarm off so that you can sleep peacefully.

Sign up for a travel price watcher. That way, you can enter your favorite destinations and receive updates on prices and offers. If airfare or hotel rates drop by the amount you select, the site will email you to alert you of the change. This will help ensure you don't miss a savings opportunity.

If you are taking a long trip and you're packing light, pack a rain coat that has a soft lining. It is impossible to predict the weather perfectly. A rain coat has a few other helpful uses as well. For example, it makes a great windbreaker during the coldest weather, yet a comfortable bath robe while you're staying at the hotel.

Before you travel, make budgeting easier by finding out about currency exchange rates beforehand. Clearly knowing what the exchange rates are will save you headaches down the road. You're going to have more fun this way, and you're not going to spend too much money.

When traveling by air, be sure to wear light shoes that are extremely comfortable and easy to kick off. This makes security checks easier since you can easily slip them off. Being comfortable is the most important thing. Traveling by plane results in a lot of sitting and very little walking, so heavy- duty footwear is not needed or recommended. Ideally, you want to be wearing sandals or even flip-flops.

Steer clear of rush hour when traveling by car. If you must be on the road at that time, consider using that time to refuel or grab something to eat. This is a good time to eat or relax.

You should get the National Parks Pass if you go to these type of parks often. The passes can be purchased for $50 and are a great deal as they cover all national parks for one full year.

Most car rental outfits do not rent to those under the age of 18, and some do not rent to those under 25. If you are younger than that, you may have to pay more. If you are older, you may not be able to rent a car. When you reserve the car, make certain to ask about age restrictions.

Everyone travels eventually. When you have time to plan this trip, you can take the time to make sure your experience is economical, as stress free as possible, and just all around more enjoyable. These tips can help you learn to be a more savvy traveler,
