Try Using Food to Boost Your Mood
Most of us think that comfort foods are terrible for us and that we need to avoid them. If your comfort food is candy or junk food this might be true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be very nutritious and good for us to consume. There are several foods that really can improve your moods when you eat them. If you feel a little bit down and you need an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be really great at beating back depression. Just be sure that you don't toss out the yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that matters most in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, particularly the yolks, are full of B vitamins. B vitamins can truly help you raise your mood. This is because they improve the function of your brain's neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Try to eat an egg and feel a lot better!

Put together a few trail mix of nuts or seeds. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etcetera are all wonderful for elevating your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which raises your brain's serotonin levels. Serotonin is referred to as the "feel good" chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling at all times. The more serotonin in your brain, the more pleasant you'll feel. Nuts, in addition to improving your mood, can be a superb protein source.

Cold water fish are good if you wish to feel better. Cold water fish such as tuna, trout and wild salmon are rich in DHA and omega-3s. These are two substances that boost the quality and function of the gray matter in your brain. It's true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can seriously boost your mood.

Some grains are truly excellent for repelling bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all actually great for helping boost your happiness levels. These grains can help you feel full for longer as well, helping you feel better. Feeling hungry can really make you feel terrible! The reason these grains can improve your mood is that they are not hard to digest. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps jumpstart a rise in your blood glucose which in turn brings up your mood to a happier place.

Green tea is truly excellent for your mood. You were just expecting to read that, weren't you? Green tea has been found to be rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have found that this particular amino acid can basically stimulate brain waves. This will improve your brain's concentration while also calming the rest of your body. You knew that green tea helps you be healthier. Now you know that green tea helps you to elevate your moods also!

As you can see, you don't need to eat junk food or foods that are terrible for you just so to feel better! Try some of these tips instead.
