What do you want to know?
Aria of Silence

Act 2

Gideon perused the dark alleys, his mind filled with thoughts of the girl he had seen just the other night. He watched his breath on the air, wondering if she was safe somewhere and warm. He himself was looking for somewhere to pass his night off, still lingering in the city near the forest he had seen her in. Crescent Bay was a small and quiet town, and he found it rather calming. His attention was caught by a small red door at the end of the alley that only read "La'Lune", with a little "open" sign on the door. Curiosity peeked, he opened the door and stepped in, his wide shoulders nearly filling the frame entirely.

It was a small bar with dim lights and soft blues playing as if from far away. the air had a light scent of cigar smoke, and the gentle clinking of liqour glasses was actually pleasant. The bar's atmosphere was calm and there wasnt that many customers, making for a fairly quiet environment. Gideon decided he liked the place quite a bit. With a soft sigh he strode in, ignoring the many looks and stares he was given. He was used to it, it wasnt every day you got a 6"3' man walking in, with pitch black hair and icy blue eyes. At least he had fairly normal skin, a little darker than tan, and a bit of a five o'clock shadow going on. He sat on a stool at the bar, a slightly burly man wearing a bartender outfit and tag reading Jessiah, smiling warmly and nodding at him.

"What can I get you, stranger?"

"Just a scotch, thanks." He was scanning the bar, about to ask about the small place when a woman came out with some grilled sandwhiches and fries. He narrowed his eyes on her, there was something familiar. She had long dark hair, light eyes and pale skin, a little older, late 30's maybe. The sound of a glass hitting the counter gently drew his attention to the grinning bartender.

"Beauty, ain't she? My wife, Paloma. There's only one girl in the whole world prettier than her though." The man sighed, smiling softly. He obviously adored his wife.

Gideon chuckled softly. "Even if there is someone prettier than your wife, I dont think you should say so. Though I doubt they come any prettier than that." He was glad his dark aura hadn't pushed this man away. He could feel his warmth filling the entire room, and it was enough to send the perpetual chill from his skin. He slanted his eyes to the side a little, hearing light footsteps approaching from behind him.

"I don't mind, since I agree myself that she is much prettier than I am." The woman's voice was energetic and lively, filled with life as she smiled softly, even though her soft hazel eyes were filled with shadows of sorrow. Gideon wondered about that untill she pulled a wallet out anf fiddled with it a bit, handing him a small picture. He stopped breathing. "Our daughter. She's pretty isnt she?" Paloma's voice resonated with pride and grief at the same time.

Gideon was quiet a while. "She's gorgeous." He looked over the pitcure. The soft oval face, the large silver-emerald eyes, small shapely lips and long, brown black curls. It was the girl he'd seen at the forest for sure. He looked at Jessiah, who watched his wife carefully, expression sad. His brows furrowed. "Did... something happen?" The woman fiddled with her apron.

"She.. passed away. I still havent gotten over it I suppose." The woman forced a soft chuckle, taking the picture back, not noticing that Gideon's heart had stopped for a moment. What had happened? Had she drowned? Dammit he knew he should have looked harder. he didn't notice a soft question of "when?" slipping from his lips. Paloma rubbed her eye a little, obviously fighting back her sorrow. "Its been about 3 years now. She would be... around 20 now. She was an up and coming star, used to sing here in the bar, brought in people like a honey pot brought flies." She sighed, unaware of Gideon's confusion.

He knew life was actually stranger than fiction... but had he seen... a ghost?
