Fading time
First encounter

Sights and sounds blurred in front of her, making her dizzy from the loss of the two senses. It was all she could do to stand straight where she stood on the bus, holding onto the loop above her head with all her might. For once, the bus was packed, and it couldn't have chosen a worse day. Sighing, tightened her grip and tried to focus on the sighs outside the window.
Passing trees, other vehicles, even people were all nothing but blurs of random color in her eyes. This was indeed bad. If she had an episode on the public transport, her face would no doubt make it to the six 'O clock news. And she could just hear her father's reaction.
"You're on the news Kit! Why would you draw attention to yourself like that? Are you stupid?"
The possible words echoed through her head, and she shuddered. The last thing she needed was another lecture about his opinion of her intelligence. She waited until the next stop before she slipped off, readjusting the strap of her bag over her shoulder as she did so. It would be a long walk home, but it was better than being stuck in the deadly, metal contraption driving away.
She started for home quietly, figuring that if anything, this only provided an opportunity for her to think. She had to decide what she was going to do with her life, and she had to do it before her father could. She knew it had to be something where you didn't matter all that much, could work your own hours, and didn't have to interact with people.
"Maybe I'll be a writer."
She muttered absently, staring straight ahead. Her mind began to wander as she automatically walked home, her feet carrying her on their own. Something caught her attention at some point, she wasn't sure what it was, but she found that she stopped on a street corner and looked around, curious and searching until her eyes landed on several street performers who seemed to be advertising something or another. One of them was dressed only in black along with a tall top hat and a long, Dracula looking cape, and a black, featureless mask. He held in front of him a shining, golden watch, dangling from a chain and swinging back and forth.
At first, she though he was trying to hypnotize people, but he said nothing at all, he simply held the watch out in front of him as his four companions did a mini act. There was someone who appeared to be a strong man holding an over-stacked wight straight into the air, and atop it stood a lean, wiry looking blonde. She could only assume that the blonde was part of the high-wire act, as Kit would have fallen simply from the fear of falling. The girl was a good ten to fifteen feet in that air. Shaking her head at the craziness, Kit then looked to the other two performers.
The two appeared to be small children, no more then eleven or twelve, but both were simply adorable. Until they started throwing knives. It looked like they had set up a target range and had corralled the area off before hand, but Kit still doubted that any passing officer would just ignore two kids throwing knives with so much accuracy that it was scary.
Finally, the watch stopped swaying, and the masked Dracula-meets-Phantom of the Opera impersonator stirred, twitched his hand, and caught the watch in mid-air as it swung in a violent curve.
"Thank you, ladies and gentlemen for watching our performers so raptly. If you would like to see more, We cordially invite you to our humble circus."
With those words spoken in a water over rocks voice that was thick with an accent and made her shiver, the balancing, wiry girl reached into her satchel and pulled out a pile of fliers almost four inches thick and flung them into the air. Shocked, Kit waited until one floated to her before she snatched it up and looked it over. It was a simple design, with some sort of logo front and center and the outline of a clock behind the words 'Centuries of dedication to others happiness....welcome to the 200th anniversary of our family.' The name at the top read Circul de Eternitate. Frowning at the flier, Kit glanced back up at the performers. The small group was packing up, but the Dracula/Phantom look-alike seemed to have vanished. Frowning, she cast one last glance to the rest of the members before she folded the flyer in half and started walking again. Her back slumped slightly when she thought of returning home, but she continued one, sighing all the while.
