If I had a girl
would she want to hold me?
How would I find her?
Would she be out somewhere
among the anemone
scraping her feet on a coral reef?
Would she be floating
on cottonball wings
high above the skyscrapers
where only the freest of birds survive?
Would she be down to earth
playing with worms
and getting grass stains on her jeans
that her dad paid four hundred dollars for
(but she doesn't care)
all in the name of having fun?
Could I find her around a campfire
roasting marshmallows
burning them until they're blackened
and charred from the flames?
Where is she?
Is she even here?
How do I know she exists?
And if I find out she does
what if some guy steals her away from me?
What if the angel that decides
to take a chance with fate
and date a demon
decides he's too much?
That the hellflames are too close
and she doesn't want her wings to burn
and make her fall?
(like Icarus)
What if she's not an angel at all
but just wearing the plastic wings
and the glitter halo?
What if she tricks me?
Do I really want an angel?
Do I want to corrupt something
so pure, so good?
(of course I do I'm a demon)
No, I really don't
I don't know
I don't even know if what I want is the girl
or just what's between her legs
do I want her heart or her purity?
Or both.
No I definitely want both.
But at the same time
I want her to have me
and be able to drag me around
like a dog on a leash
just because I love her
and love all of me back
my corrupted mind
my shriveled heart
and my nonexistent soul
everything.
Where can I find a girl like that?
Do they make her in stores
somewhere far across the sea?
Do you put in a special request
with the stork in the sky?
Do you ask Nature herself
to bestow perfection upon you?
Or do you ask some fire of life
to forge you a dream?
