For new players: You can start many ways. You can do what a lot of people do- "poll whore" (which means going to the forums and take as many polls as you can which is 10g a pop). Or you can go to the forums (pick a subject you like of course) and start chatting. (If you find a pink topic, click on it quick! It will get you 1k) biggrin . Just gotta read the rules and follow them.. if not that will cost you gold. You can pay 500g at the bank if you would like to start out trading with people.. it can get you some good deals in the future wink
For everyone: Once you have 1k (1000g) then you should buy a shop. YES IT IS SOOO WORTH IT! This can be done at the bank. Then you go to market place and click on "My shop". You can edit and make it as perdy as you wish. I use http://tektek.org/gaia/tools.php to make the font colors interesting. Now that you have it set up.. start buying. Yes.. I said buying. You can sell the peasant top to get you some starting gold if you need some. You can get ghost sheets, jack uniform pants, and flowers for cheap. I still buy jack uniform pants. Ok now for whatever you wish to buy there are a few rules. NEVER, pay more for an item than it costs in the store. This is very important. You pay more: you lose money.
If it's not in the store: check market for pricing. If it is in the store and is severely discounted, then consider buying. I usually put nothing in the searchbox and use the scrolldown option and click on "Time Remaining" to find my deals. It may take awhile to have an idea of how much items are worth, but you'll start getting it after you lookup the item a few times.
Each time I buy/sell an item, I log it. Below are some of my past doings.

It's been awhile.. but I'm finally here to edit.. 2/15/07 lol over a year later. Just a nice guideline: it's not nice to make trades with someone and know that they're overpaying without informing them first. It's also not nice to buy a cheap item for 10k off the normal price without them knowing that it's that big of a discount unless it's from market... Oh yeah. Last "un-nice" thing to do is be mean to someone.. whether they're begging for gold or randomly pming you. When people ask me for gold, I just give them my gold tips. Feel free to give those people this link. May save ya some trouble. **Oh yeah.. if people claim to be an admin and ask for your password, report them immediately.. don't pm them back.** mrgreen
