Isn't life wonderful?
Apparently, I don't live up to my host families expectations....I dont 'live up' to the previous students......So far they've told me that I have childlike behavior and rude manners because I yawn sometimes (with my mouth covered) at the table! I'm not sorry if I'm tired! It's also apparently rude to stretch your arms a little bit. They also tell me that I always 'stand out' because of my clothing style etc.-they called me gaudy once. They call me a very picky person because I dont like to drink all the various nasty tea that they give me....ones called municha (its a BREAD tea-yuck xp )and ALL the PREVIOUS students liked it, why cant I? Thats their attitude, all I want is WATER whats wrong with that!? They suggested either that 1) I'm already going bald or 2) That I will go bald if I dont drink tea and drink cold water instead....I told them that in America, most doctors recommend that a person drink at least one liter of plain water a day, and they didn't believe me, they said teas okay too..... stressed I'm getting so frustrated with them.....They make all these little rude comments (maybe it's not rude to them) and they say I have no manners! evil scream I know this is a different culture, but thats ridiculous..... rolleyes I'm really homesick for my own family, they dont stress me out like this! They also said its bad manners to hang my clothes (in my room) on the window bar! I had no where else to put it! They didn't have to tell me I had bad manners, or they could've told me the proper place to put it beforehand! ugh.... rolleyes So, so far lets recap what they've implied or straightout called me.....1) childish 2) no manners 3) someone who is going bald 4) someone who is gaudy 5) weird..................................................................
I will admit, that its my responsibility to become accustomed to another culture, but it's also THEIR responsibility as a family that VOLUNTEERED to take an INTERNATIONAL STUDENT to realize that I am NOT japanese, and that to say these things to me because I am different is NOT okay! mad
