Once again n00bs Don't get it....V_V
Dear Journal if you are wondering why I have my type in normal writing, here's a lot plenty reason why. I ran several n00bs reporting topics WRONGFULLY and and appearing on the topic as this:
n00b
This does not belong here, it goes in the "Chatterbox"!!

Does this sound famillar? it does. it reminds me of Final Fantasy VII Guild ALL Over again...v_v..how long you been Gaia since when? 2007-2008?

I'm not bashing no one but I hate people bashing over people's topics. If they misplaced a topic in certin forum for instantance the GCD, then let mods did their job,not you. it's not your job in first place to tell what goes.

If you want to be a MOD, you need to go here.

This is an old quote to remember you not to do that:

Ushigami
Recently, well...

Actually, it's rather sad, but us mods have only taken note of it recently, so I'm guessing it's been going on for a long time now, and it's a really big problem. For the guild, it's members, and prospective members alike. It's probably not one that any of you have taken note of, or have even thought to be a problem, but it IS a problem, and now it's being addressed, finally.

What is it, since I now have your attention? Why, it's quite simple.

Tell me what's wrong with this following conversation.

----------

Person A: Hi lol I jus wanted 2 now how evrybody is doing. I lik eFinal Fantsy X! xd

Person B: WTF, man, shut up and go away, freakin' noob. Read the f**king rules why don't ya.

Person C: Oh my GAWD, not another retard. >.< When's a mod gonna come over and lock this?

Person D: One word: N00B.

Person E: Bump.

----------

What's wrong? It's the ATTITUDE of the members as they respond to the new and inexperienced member.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

Yeah, folks who type like that are a problem, and they can be annoying. But telling them that they are a retarded noob will NOT solve the problem. You'll hurt somebody's feelings, the person will leave without learning how to properly post a thread or what the rules of the guild are, and the guild ends up looking like a pit of jerks.

Just because someone doesn't know what they are doing doesn't mean that you can beat them down like that. It is unjust, unfair, and even humiliating to the person that is recieving the verbal beating. If the person was warned countless times and supplied with the proper information by a moderator, then let the MOD deal with it. It is the job of not only the moderators, but the WHOLE GUILD, to make new members feel welcome, and if they do end up breaking rules, to guide them into the right direction. Name calling does not teach new members how to type coherently, or how to make a proper on topic thread.

Think about it, if you were in their shoes, while you were in, let's say, the fourth grade or so. You still can't type well, but you can understand well enough what others are saying. It's your first time in a 'guild,' and you're excited about making your first thread/post/whatever. You make this new thread, talking about something you like, wanting to see if others like the same thing. Instead of being treated to other's opinion on the topic of the thread (which is off topic in the guild where it was made), you've got at least five or so people telling you how stupid, retarded, n00bish, and utterly horrible you are for making this thread.

How would you feel if someone did that to you, at that age? I know I would have broken down into tears and never gone to the website, or near a computer, for a very, very long time.

If you cannot post in any thread with anything constructive to people who accidentally break the rules, then do NOT POST ANYTHING AT ALL. If you MUST post something, you have to be polite and considerate about it, and NOT BE A JERK. We get a lot of new, rather YOUNG members who've recently played the game, or who just think the characters look cool.

I do also realize that some people who are older, heck, even around my age, will type like that, and disregard the rules even when they are pointed in the correct direction or supplied with a link to them. As I've said previously, a MODERATOR will deal with them, not the members. If you are not a moderator, then just leave it be until a moderator gets to it, or PM a mod with a link so that they can get to it on the double.

Whatever you do, do NOT beat down on a fellow member because they did something wrong. And if you see a moderator doing the same, whether it't to another member or yourself, PM another moderator or myself about it, and include the name of all parties involved, mod and member alike. We will then deal with it promptly to the best of our ability.

I do not want new folks coming into this guild only to quit it after a day or so because they were treated like crap by the members OR moderators. It reflects poorly not only on the guild or Gaia, but on us as humans. People come here to safely and happily discuss all matters pertaining to Final Fantasy VII, not to be told how 'retarded' or 'n00bish' they are.

It's disrespectful, it's counter-productive, and it's just plain STUPID.

So,next time you want to bash someone on certin thread, let the mods do thier job not you.it's not your job in the first place.

there's old saying:

buckskin99
If you have Nothing NICE to say,
Then don't say at all..

This old saying worth what preaches....

Also my old Entry will help you understand why it's wrong the first place. 3nodding

that's all I have to say.

Constantine (Allie) Fox.

Hey, I remember that quote! I was the one who made it, after we had a splurge of folks acting as if they were the mods in the guild. xd I still believe it is wrong to try to moderate a thread, guild, or any forum unless you yourself are a mod, or have been given express special permission from a moderator or higher up.

I wouldn't necessarily call the folks who do that to others "n00bs," since it's not really n00bish, so much as being rude and trying to do someone else's job. They could be a better help by linking to the thread and alerting a mod instead of getting "holier-than-thou" and telling others what to do.

That's not to say that some of the folks who do that have the best intentions at heart and do not realize that what they are doing isn't the correct way to go about it, but ignorance is no longer a good excuse for that sort of thing, particularly from older members who have had more experience on the internet. If anyone is going to be corrected or patronized for a violation (regardless of how extreme or minor it is), it should typically left to a mod.

It's really nice to see that more folks are becoming aware of this. I think it's good that you mentioned this, since a lot of folks may not realize they're doing anything wrong until someone mentions it.

I also apologize if this is a personal question to ask, and do feel free to ignore it, but... Did someone do this to you in the FFVII Guild? It's been a while, and I'm no longer as active as I used to be (in the guild or Gaia as a whole), but your user name is very familiar. I'm very sorry for any trouble you had in the guild, and for not trying hard enough to make it better. sad I do hope you are having a better time elsewhere on Gaia, though.

Again, thank you for posting this. It's nice to see that other people still do care.

You're welcome. I thought put this in my journal to let everyone know it is wrong to do so. It happened to me alot of times (not on just this account but my mule as well.) on the personal matter on hand what happen to in FFVII Guild. it happened along time before you took over. (I got to thank-you that statement you did it made realize that it's not right to do others that way.) I also put you as credit for that quote that I put on there. Like Michelle's Dad said: If you have nothing nice to say, then don't say it at all.. which that old quote has meanful to everyone (even me..)
