Goodbye my lion
“Goodbye my dragon,
I’ll love you forever.”
You whisper to me.
My heart breaks,
A million tiny slivers of ice
Raining with a light tinkle
Upon the dusty ground
Of the tree encircled clearing
We now rest in the middle of.
How fitting, the ice that is called my heart.
Icy one, they call me
But you never saw me that way
My love.
You were so amazed that I saw you as a normal person
Everyone else demanded such insane things from you
And I loved you so much
For just being you.
Looking at your life slowly draining
From your eyes
I gather you closer to me
Wanting to yell and scream my rage
At the world for its intolerable cruelty
But knowing that I cannot,
You wouldn’t want it.
You’d want me to move on
To just celebrate the good times,
And not focus too much on the bad,
Though never forgetting the bad.
I know that you are right,
And I always will know it.
Thinking of the good times,
I remember how we came together
At long last.
We were enemies for so long
I couldn’t believe
That you would want me,
But I wanted you too much
To remind you of our past.
Thank goodness you forgot the hate,
Or I know that I would not
Have gotten to say
Goodbye
And I would have died then.
I was so terrified
When I found out
That you were going after him
To stop him,
I almost threw up.
It didn’t matter
That you were going
To save the world,
I just wanted you
Safe and sound.
Everyone was so happy
That it would finally be over,
But I was so scared that you
Would not be coming back to me.
So I went after you
When you went after him
And you finally got him good,
But you paid such a costly price.
Hugging you as hard
As I can,
I die a little inside
As you sag against me limply.
I grit my teeth, hard
As I feel the gravel
Of the clearing
Beneath us bite into my legs.
“Forever and always,
You’ll have my heart.
My forbidden love,
My fierce, brave lion.”
I whisper to you.
You smile,
And as my heart
Becomes a black hole,
You breathe your last,
The light fading from your eyes.
My heart is yours
Forever
And Always,
My very heart and soul.
Goodbye my lion.
