It's long, but it covers everything.

The issue has been solved and we are on good terms and there are no hard feelings. :3 We are not mad at each other and there is no drama war going on.
If Morbid understands and isn't mad anymore, why should you guys be?

This isn't about if you like the item idea or not! You can choose to not vote for it and have your own opinion. Duh. But don't hate it for the wrong reason.

Hey.

I just want to say that I'm genuinely so sorry about the wind up key situation. I never even knew there was a thread about it, especially one that has been around since 2006.

I never go to the petition forums, I honestly never knew that an idea for the wind up key existed. And it never occurred to me to check. I hang out mostly in the GCD and a few guilds. I'd never seen the key idea advertised in someone's signature or forum, etc.

I know this doesn't change the fact that you are pissed off. I totally understand why. But I don't want you to think that I cheated off you. I'm not that type of person, if I had known about it earlier, I wouldn't even have submitted it at all.
I would never rip off someone and then prance around and try to rub it in their face.

The idea came to me when I was watching an anime called "Rozen Maiden". If you already don't know, the show is about dolls that come to life. I realize that this doesn't seem to original either, but that's just where my inspiration happened to come from. Wind up keys in real dolls existed before Rozen Maiden anyway so I didn't think I don't consider this as copying since they didn't make it up.
Call me an anime geek or whatever, It doesn't matter. xP Inspiration has to come from somewhere.

There were so many entries, I wasn't even expecting to make it to the finals. I don't know why the judges picked mine over an idea that already existed, that's obviously out of my hands.

How different is a wind up key going to look? It's a simple design that has been around a very long time. It looks the same because that's the way a "8" doll key design looks traditionally. Same with the colors gold finishes are common on music box keys and dolls, etc.
And my entry didn't even have a silver option and are even in different positions on the back from Morbid.Marionette's edit. If you feel that Morbid's edit was better than mine, go ahead and do so. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. All the contest required was a sketch, and that's exactly what I submitted, a sketch. I did the contest for fun, I didn't even think I had a chance. If you think that it's unfair that mine was chosen over hers, I repeat, it's out of my hands.

I myself own a doll with a wind up key. It's not like the concept is obscure.
How is it that more than one person can't have the same/similar idea? If she could think it up, why can't I? Morbid and I might not even be the only two that submitted a doll key idea anyway.

This site is huge, there's no way that I would be stalking through every petition thread just for a contest, it's not even possible. I'm not that desperate and don't have the time. Nor do I have the desire to start drama with someone on purpose. :/ I'm sure there are forums/threads you don't go into and things that you've missed. The Petitions forum is just one of the many I don't look into personally. I'm not saying there is a problem with petitions, I just don't actively keep up with any.

I was just making an item that could be unisex, and rather simple for a fun contest. The possibility of the same idea happens, it happens everyday in real life too. And it doesn't have to be because of cheating/stealing.
I'm sorry if that's hard to grasp. Some people might have cheated/copied in the contest, but I'm not one of them.

I fully understand that.
If that's what she wants, I'd be more than glad to share with her. I just want the item made more than anything. I don't even care about the money/recognition, I've survived without 500k before, I can survive without it now. (Yeah a gold prize is nice, but it's not REAL money.) What I really want most is for the item to be made. I understand that she has the petition and has worked hard at it. But that doesn't change the fact that the ideas were still submitted independent of each other.

This was more about the suspicion that I had copied her idea, which was is not the case. We (meaning me and Morbid) just don't want any one to be confused about that part anymore.

But like you said, this is an IF. I'm not at all proclaiming that I will win. But under the result that it did happen, I'd talk it over with Morbid and we'd settle it ourselves.
