so. it was released last night. Halo3... and i'm stuck with a monumental decision.
you see... i have two major games that i play. Halo (series) and FFXI. both are games with friends, mostly online, but sometimes in person. the problem is that both are very time consuming, and very addicting.
in the past, Halo was a very social thing. we'd set up death matches at people's houses, we have backpacks and full cabling gear to take our xboxes wherever needed, and we had alot of fun doing it. (Halo2 on a projector 10' high on a wall is intense)
now... Halo3is out. most of my friends were at the midnight release parties last night at local game stores. sadly, in a state of emotional disarray, i was not.
you see... i don't have a Xbox360. mainly because i don't play console games other than the occasional RPG (ie: FinalFantasy or Xenosaga) with my wife (usually on the PS2), and i was waiting for microshaft to fix the always occurring first revision glitches, which i heard were horrible. (glad i waited) for that matter, the only game that i would play on the console would be Halo3, which is why i've waited so long to make this decision.
now... the glitches are mostly fixed... Halo3 is finally out... and they finally released (a few months back) a non-a**-white version of the 360, the Xbox360 Elite, which would be my version of choice. (i'd never get the butt-ugly MasterChief version. just looking at it would make me vomit, on a daily basis)
so now the question comes to a head....
do i drop the almost $500 for the 360Elite & Halo3 or do i just ignore the growing desire to immerse myself back into the Halo Universe?
I wish to buy Kingdom Hearts III when it makes its release. However, to do that, I need a PS3. Which...I really don't wanna go out and buy. I'm hoping PS3 prices will have dropped by the time KHIII comes out. I just bought a Wii. Well, not for the purpose of one particular game, but because the Wii is already damn awesome. And I await Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
It depends. If you REALLY love Halo (and I mean REALLY love it), by all means, drop the $500 on the Elite and buy the game so you can outwit your friends with your gun-toting excelence. However, if you feel Halo 3 is something you'd play for a couple months and then get bored...do it anyway. Because at least it entertains you for a few months. And by the time you get bored with Halo, some new XBox game will have come out that you'd buy the system for anyway.
It always works that way. Those game people know just how to play the game of "making money in real life".

I've never liked Halo and despised any form of XBox ... so yeah ... that's my answer xd
I might dislike it less if we got sponsor items from the people responsible for the atrocity -rolls eyes and prods-
I'd recommend looking at the other games first, to make sure it'll be a good use of money. Try Bioshock, and Mass Effect for instance (when the latter one is out of course >_>wink

I didn't see any negatives in your argument, so what are you waiting for? o.O Go get the game!
Considering you'll probably spend a few hundred hours playing the game, it should be well worth the price even if that's the only game you ever play.. >.>

The reason I purchased my original Xbox was for Halo 2 and then the system up and died barely 9 months later.
I guess the real way to look at is will the multi-player aspect of teh game keep you playing it? The plot driven part of the game can be finished within a few days but think of the hours of multiplayer fun you can have being screamed at by pre-pubescent boys who think the word "p***y" is the most hilarious thing in the world.

Ignore it until the price drop. Not to spoil anything but Halo 3 has a really shitty plot and Bungie introduced no new enemies, so the campaign is the same tired s**t you played in Halo 2. If you're only getting it for multiplayer- which it would seem you are- just stick with Halo 2 because in all honesty it's practically the same game but shinier, no joke. If you're good at Halo 2 you'll be able to play on par with your friends in deathmatches in 3. So yeah, wait for a price drop on the Elite.
Or, be a cool kid and get a Wii, Kaia9. You know it's the right thing to do with Brawl coming out in December cool.

it's up to you, you do what you feel like, if you want the game then get game but if you want to wait to see if the prices drop which they will and sell at the platnium prices which are like 50% cheaper when they first come out then do that then.
In the end, it's your choice

Well if you're really desperate... I've heard of a program to play your playstation 2 games on your pc. There SHOULD be an xbox one, shouldn't there...? Well there should... anyway, you might want to see about that, and just get the one game if you aren't really going to use the xbox for anything else.
Eat a muffin... that should help in you make up your mind.

I'm getting dilemmas myself over PSPs and DS Lites - question being to get which one, or to get at all. -_-;
I'm not a PS3 owner, neither do I have an Xbox 360, so I cannot say anything from experience - what I've seen, though, is that my friend's nine-year-old brother has no problems with both his PS2 (( yes, I know, whole different thing )) and PSP, while my other friend constantly rattles up a storm over a malfunctioning Xbox. @_@
...okay, that didn't really help. Still, whatever decision you make, good luck.
I'm a HUGE final fantasy freak.... but you also seem to be a HUGE Halo freak... maybe complete your Halo collection now and go for the Final Fantasy later? *still playing FFXII*
you probably already have this same comment somewhere else, but I would wait for the PS3 if you like final fantasy. Trust me if your a massive player of RP games than stick with sony. On the other hand it's always cool to experiment if you have the money.
