I didn't like DBZ much either, but recently I re-read it, and I had to change my opinion about it.
It's not so much the plotting that captures you, but more like the pacing and story telling, both of which are top-notch.
I mean, the story is, everyone knows, just endless power-ups and getting stronger. But it's told in such away that absorbs you.

Anyway, that's really the strongest skill you can have as a mangaka.

I didn't like American comics either for a really long time. Until just a while ago, actually.

Then I REALLY got into them.
The thing is, you kinda have to overlook the minor things that make it different form manga. For me, that was the lack of speedlines, of all things. I thought without speedlines, it doesn't feel as if the characters are moving really fast, and takes away from the mind-numbing heart-pumping action.

Anyway, with that aside, most comics are pretty well written, well drawn, with attention to detail and good story-telling.

I'm into:

LIFE, Shaman King (first manga I ever read), Death Note (oh yes baby), FMA (wee!), started reading Hikago. Spoiled the ending. Probably will never finish. And yeah... guess that's it.

Well, I still can't say that I'm really into American comics, but my friend had me read the first six Runaways books while I was at her house. I'm not obsessed with it, but it was interesting enough for me to want to see what happened next (though the art just bugs me XP). Plus, she wants to go to an American comic con with a Runaways group, so I'm gonna try to do Lucy In The Sky for her, and she's gonna be Nico and we'll be a couple ^^

I just realized that I've only ever read American Comics (And local ones, but nobody's going to recognize them so what's the use? biggrin ). O_O As in, I've read some fromyouknowwhere but not enough to actually youknowwhat. I save that for other things. ;D So, here's my list of fave American Comics.

American Comics!
300 (*begs mercy from Tinuu*)
Runaways (Teen angst/romance + Superheroes = HEH HEH HEH! *gets shot*)
As usual... The Sandman series
V for Vendetta

PS. I've been hooked on superheroes. I can't believe I've never really looked into them, so please suggest some titles for me. biggrin Through Pm or whatever. Thanks!
