-A place to be away from classes but still at the Academy-

☽:: One day you might just find something worth living an eternity for.....::☾

Such a bright sunny day, that thought was in Winter’s mind as she looked a little out of place where black jeans and forest green sweater, topped off with a black jacket with a hood as the color coordination for her outfit for the day. She had to have her hood on almost covering her fast to where you can only see up to her mouth, so she will not be exposed to too much of the sunlight as she walked around the Academy. No one was around so she took a sigh of relief knowing not many people will be able to think of her as weird with the clothing she had on. Placing her hands behind her back she started to begin a slow pace around the school just to get a feel for it before having class. How ironic was it that she was given the class that had the history of vampires? Well at least she didn’t have to talk about the vampires now, just the ones in history which might be somewhat about herself and the ancestors before her. She crossed her arms over her chest and made sure her gloves were on correctly before proceeding forward. Maybe if she were to look for a place to just relax as well, she might be able to read her book that she was currently interested in. Or even jot down some more notes that she will give during her class. Either way she just wanted a nice and quiet place to be able to concentrate for thirty minutes or more since she was extremely early for her class.

Behind the Academy, Winter found a little field that was perfect for her to wind down. She found a tree to sit under before taking her notebook out of her bag and a pen to jot down more notes. She also took out the book that she had in her bag since it was dealing a little bit with her history and she could use some of the material in it to teach her class. Opening the book, she started to read it where she left off and got engrossed in what the book was giving her. How could so much knowledge be in so many books she will never know but she was on her way to knowing even more about other cultures that had vampires in their way of life. She will focus mostly on the ones that are around the world, but she was undecided about giving a bunch of information or just to give the history of each culture and then just leave it at that so that she doesn’t give away about modern day vampires. It would be best to just do the history of each culture and then leave the modern-day vampire to the imagination since she didn’t want to blow her cover and her sister will have to take her out of the Academy so that she will not be hunted down and have people trying to kill her for what she is. It really is still remarkable how humans will put you in a category without even knowing you. But she guessed that was why she found them fascinating. She jotted down some notes and continued to read and write to make sure she was getting all the points she wanted to get across for the England vampire history for today.

      ᴛʜᴇᴍᴇ: Bloodborne

The black cat that was having a leisurely walk through the confines of the large halls of this prestigious academy and being watched carefully by students. Some of them thought it was cute, some thought it was a bad omen, and others just questioned why would a black cat be left to roam the halls without anyone to stop it. There were those brilliant minds who could probably see through this disguise and feel something else was more to the eye. Those without an untrained eye could not see through this facade. After finishing the leisurely walk and exiting out to the moonlight grounds, his true form became of view and a few students outside were astonished. Left in surprise, they just continued through their walk questioning and whispering among one another many small gossips and rumors. Some of them knew who he was, and he surely knew who everyone was. He needed to. After all, he was the historian and foreseer of these blessed grounds. He wasn't a general specialist of knowledge for no reason. There was no need of his classes as of yet, so he was free to substitute and listen. Ah, what amazing feeling to be able to create theorems and share wisdom among his peers and students alike. Although not many would approach one such as him. A mask may hide many things and fear brought about the beginning of a thought that might provoke this feeling. After his whole body emerged from this past state of being in a sort of inched manner, his face creaked upwards to look straight into the moon. Of course classes needed to be at night, since vampires would be learning here. This was a special place after all.

There was hope somewhere in himself that the newer professor had followed him. If not, then he would be left to his own theories and knowledge. Perhaps he should sketch humans and learn their anatomies or even keep on building upon the theory of how vampire-kind came to be? There was quite a few things rolling down this brilliant mind. But of course, behind his mask was more than flesh. There was something beneath it that could not be touched or confined within a space. He was lost in thought of what he should do now. That class was a lot to give in such a short time. There was no doubt in his mind that he did a great job making the best of this time and making everything as short and sweet as possible. But of course, there was always that one student who grasped everything and everyone else would not. That's how it always is in the world of teaching. That's why he liked to have leisurely chats with professors that could share in the art of chatting and theorizing. True brilliant minds could keep up with that one thing that hid behind the mask and they would know what was there.

Octavia Balam

Professor of magical studies

The gaudy clicks of heels upon the nicely worked floor of these halls followed after this cat as it passed by so nonchalantly soon to sync themselves perfectly with its steps as professor Octavia mimicked its hip motions. Of course even a few students with a trained eye might not recognize the cat with such a distraction in place somewhat behind it. The lust she felt would slowly seep into all around her gently inching them towards the darkest corners of whatever was on their mind at the moment be that her body or even their studies. This reckless woman was currently only focused on herself since she could get away with such for now. If she recalled her class wasn't starting till after something about vampires.

At last she could sense a transformation, that gorgeous mask was returning. Who cared what was behind it, all people wore masks and the most beautiful ones inspired such tantalizing fantasies! Even more importantly was that ones mask told others exactly what they could be used for, her own was that of a beautiful teacher who cared so very lovingly for her students or so she liked to believe. It wasn't exactly a secret how bizarre and scandalous a woman she was but she wore her mask and it made it easy to brush off for the most part.. well that and her knack for lies but that was just one more feature of her own mask. And so what of this dashing man some ways ahead of her? Did she dare ask the identity of a masked man, much less one she was probably supposed to know already. No, of course not! This was no child or even a mere man.. she play her role with earnest upon this stage where masks belonged, where masks were a tool and expression of a deeper self that no face could ever reveal! She wished to play with him just as she had played with all those other poor souls she couldn't remember the name of.. she was still a filthy tramp but at heart but it seemed now she was a more intelligent and self aware one. Was this tragic or fortunate?

She called out to him in a playful manner as though try and to poke a hole in this veil of mystery he seemed to favor to let a moment of her overbearing glory shine in. "Greetings dear colleague!" those who knew her well enough knew she had a habit of speaking in a strange yet polite tone when she'd forgotten their name, even after intimate relations before she could even finish her glass of wine. She dared not risk calling one mans name while speaking to another.. this mistake was something she'd experienced with one lover too many if they even really could be called lovers in the absence of proper love. "A superb performance and pleasurable experience, my erm.. palms in all probability might have purpled with praise and perspiration?" She had a dirty and playful expression on her face. Now that she'd veered off a subject she was a bit too good at such obvious word games were no longer so simple. Still she enjoyed herself and rather shamelessly so. Unable to see herself continuing too far with this game she skipped straight to the point without actually calling off the game. "You in all totality seem the type to seek terribly secretive and tempting little treasures.. perhaps you'd like to see mine?" Ah.. it turned into a pickup line... "The one that will soon be mine that is, I'll be needing a few escorts into this or that place.. think of it as a field trip if you will." Be it flirtations or danger she felt no need to apologize or explain herself to a fellow demon. She merely shot him a wry grin as many lady demons might. A demon culture was taking root in these lands and it was only natural that such an expression might exist to simply dare someone without words to join them in some activity. The expression she gave was further enhanced by her power to project certain suggestions through mere expression, not only did she not hide that she was up to something, without a hint as to what one could possibly sense that she was teasing with something.. well a few things actually but this included a bit more than her vanity or bottomless pit of amorousness.

If he was in the loop he may have even noted that she'd recently been caught taking an interest in a certain forbidden forest though most would ignore it thinking this to be just another well fitting behavior from someone who took an interest in things she wasn't supposed to have. At least this time it wasn't a new student some would say though a few who knew better might have even made offers to anyone who could figure out what was making this potential demonic leviathan of sorts so... adventurous despite efforts to keep her confined within the school grounds, particularly those who dared not face the embarrassment of knowing she could so easily bypass the seals they put in place with spells and tricks so simple to perform she'd already taught them to many students... A good deal of extra money could be made merely by keeping tabs on her.

      ᴛʜᴇᴍᴇ: Bloodborne

In the absence of light, there was a darkness that would fill around the moonlit grounds. How very vexing, was it not? This thought provoked something within himself, but he couldn't quite place his hand on it. Was it his own thought or was it something from one of his many others that dwell within him? Many answers could lie behind the absence of truth. He knew this far too well. This professor might not know what she was dealing with and could've been assuming far beyond her own realm of understanding. Ah, yes. He could almost listen to the quiet symphony of the darkness singing around them to quiet down the unfurling of wordplay going on in this very moment. His leather-clad hands lifted up into the pockets of his hoodie to have them cradle in the warmth that his somewhat human body could provide and listened carefully to the woman. This spat of senseless ends did not apprise him. It was much so that he didn't even turn his head in interest. Something was amiss. Although her intentions were laid bare, he could not sit idly by, and so he had to speak up. He already knew the power of suggestion from her voice, but he also knew it wouldn't work talking to so many souls all at the same time. Again, he was miles in steps in front of her, but his ears were deaf to this project of hers.

"Milady, you assume too much. Seek not the mask. What will become upon duty's end. It wish thee not follow. I accept your humble praise of my class, but you need not do such a thing. If you wish for escorts, I suggest Professor Makar if you're going through the woods. There is a reason they call him the God of the Forest... you won't need anyone else's protection. Tread carefully though. Harm his kin, and you will become prey. Now if you wish for escorts in anywhere other than the forest, I would suggest Professor Alberstein and Cornelius. They are both far more versed in the ways of modern and ancient society than myself and they are kind souls."

He kept himself humble as always and praised both professors for their knowledge even when they were not around to hear it. The truth was that he was probably more versed in these two things than them at least in general means just because that was his job, even so he was always a humbling and lurking figure to anyone around himself. Somewhat hidden within those last words was not only well-kept manners, but something else. Under his voice was more voices hiding in the shadows and they were unkind. How could he possibly have more than one tone hidden within him altogether? Perhaps she knew of his curse or perhaps she didn't. If she had taken notes within the class when he was in the shapeless ones, she would know why. Whatever she was up to, if it was in the forest, Korok knew all about it. Nothing there was beyond his colleague's eyes. He knew and had the utmost faith that this shadow of the forest was on the same side as this masked being. Of course, he was also always well-mannered and educated, so he would explain why he wouldn't go to such a leisurely "field trip" as she dare call it.

"I cannot accept your invitation. As you can see, I am terribly busy with my academic duties. I am the substitute teacher for every class and I have another purpose as well, but that one you may not know. Don't take it personally. Unless you have something of more worth than carnal pleasures, I suggest you not talk to me, milady."

Even as he basically told her to take a hike, his wording was so well-placed that nobody could ever take offense to such words. Ah, yes, such an illustrious mind in the hands of the academy. This was his blessed grounds after all. But wait... what was it that he said about another role? Did anyone actually know of this other role? No. Nobody did, except the head of the Academy itself. He was appointed but one task that he could not share with anyone ever. Hell, even he probably did not know what it was because he could hide this one purpose in one of his many souls that would require someone pinpointed each and every one of them within himself and then decoding all of them. There was no one of this world that could do such a things. It was beyond the realm of flesh. It was beyond the realm of blood. In the slight manners of having respect for the conversation and telling her of what he has no interest, he finally twisted his head leftwards to look at her through the dark of the mask and the tip of his eye. As she made herself clear, he wanted to do the same but in a more educated and mannered way. There was no thoughts of grandeur next to her at all, but he knew his kind well. So far, he was the only one of his kind that was more human than they. Somewhere deep within his many souls was some already judgmental about her. It couldn't be helped. Her voice and gestures were... how you would say? Complex? She wasn't to blame though, she was of his own kin. Although he made it clear during his encounter of Professor Alberstein that he looked at all creatures equally.

The power of her suggestion would surely reach each and every being within him that could hear or be influenced by those who could. In what way would certainly be limited by his caution or simple rejection of her.. either of which simply got her more excited at the idea of something or many somethings she couldn't have supposedly.

"Hm.." Her wry grin grew a bit more sinister as something like protection came up. She was perhaps too loose with her phrasing but what flowed from him after was all too telling. Whatever was behind that mask was certainly as chatty as she'd imagined. She listened to him a moment thinking of perhaps playing the helpless person as he might have just suggested but it was simply not in her nature to respond to such a man as though she could possibly be some manner of princess especially now that she was curious about his connections to that damned headmaster. The aquantence she'd actually come here to meet arrive soon so there was no need to delay this man any further with trivial matters. She'd already gotten quite a delicious mouthful from him.

Her next words would be ones meant to introduce or reintroduce herself as well as pique a minimal interest.. Indeed she was not one in need of protection but rather actors upon a stage. Protection was cheap if the workers didn't survive too long afterall.. but unlike workers she did value this type of information enough for a tit-for-tat trade whether he realized he'd given it or not. She of course would be equally vague when she proclaimed with a dismissive yet taunting voice "Carnality lies at the end of all pleasures my dear kin, though it seems our upcoming meeting will render it less apparent." She called him kin this time and emphasized such words. Her suggestive power would serve to further intensify such a title and possibly even cause one to question the connection between the two if they were one to read far too deeply into something. One might get the sense that this was a form of fate sealing hex, one that could cause a self fulfilling event, though in truth she was referring to something more of an probable scenario existing only a bit outside the realm of academia.

She was not phased nor surprised in the slightest by rejection. It just made this little game of school more exciting.. the fact he wore a mask made her feel more fake which in turn made her more immersed within her role at this school. This twisted kind of logic was necessary for one such as her who had gained the power to overcome certain urges but had also become a key part of who she was this time around. She quite enjoyed this masked man even if she had no good or even respectable intentions to offer him. It wasn't quite love but it was certainly just as romantic, she hoped to keep him around should her other meeting or another somehow result in the downfall of this useful institute.. unfortunately this was highly unlikely to happen without herself being bound to the same fate...

☽:: One day you might just find something worth living an eternity for.....::☾

Upon hearing others around her, Winter looked slightly up from her studies of the subject that she was to teach moments from now, to see that there were others there. She kept her head low as to not get caught by the light of the sun to touch her bare skin. Thankfully her hoody was serving its purpose for the day as she had planned. She looked away from the figures in the distance to her book in front of her until she got the feeling that she was missing something and decided to check her watch to check the time. Twisting her wrist slightly to expose her watch underneath her sleeve and gloves she saw that too much time has passed and it was time for her to go back to her classroom. Quickly gathering up her things she decided to just do any other studying she might have to do later after class or if no one showed up she would be able to keep studying in her classroom that way she would be out of the sun as well. All she needed was a quiet place to do it but earlier she didn't feel like being cooped up in the classroom when she was going to be teaching in there for an hour or unless she let them out earlier depending on her mood and how much they take notes.

She placed her journal, textbook and pen back into her bag before slowly and quietly getting into a standing position and put her bag over her shoulder and started to walk in the direction of the school to get to her classroom. Thankfully she didn't go too far from the school to where it would take her forever to get back. Possibly only eight minutes to be exact, that is if she didn't just speed up a little bit to where she would be there almost in ten seconds. But since she was trying to fit in with everyone, she thought better of it and would just take her time getting to her class. Besides, who knows who or what she might bump into anyways so it was better to take your time then to rush into things and miss the world for what it was at the moment. She purposely took a little bit of a longer way around the grounds since she didn't want to be noticed too much by the other professors that were chatting. Professor Locust looked like he might be in a deep conversation with the lady with him and she did not feel like listening in on their conversation even thought she would have been able to do so with ease with her sensitive ears.

After going passed the professors, Winter slowly walked the rest of the grounds to the building with nothing particularly on her mind so she started humming a song that has been stuck in her head for ages to soothe her before getting to her classroom.

And he shall appear...

He was airborne at the time thinking about the substitute the academy had sent to take over his class during his absence. From what he read he was a mysterious guy but he was also a demon, he was sure the class would be alright. He also had to make sure he would go over the roster of the class and learn his students names, needs, and areas they could improve. He was going to make sure he was going to be a great teacher.

Cornelius landed outside the wall of the courtyard. He landed near some trees so the soft soil would muffle his entrance. He leaped one more time to get over the courtyard wall. He walked casually back towards the center. He sensed her again. So youre here again. He began to walk towards her direction following the feeling of lust and desire.

"So you're here." He said as he approached Octavia. The substitute teacher was with her as well. As he got close to the sub he stretched out his hand. "Thank you for covering for me." A glint in his smile, and a hint of red in his eyes for a split second. "Ive read your file and its quite impressive, I'm glad my students were being taken care of by an individual with your intellect."

What a lively crowd gathered within the confines of these grounds. It seemed a lot of activity passing by in these dark times. He could feel the rise and fall of pressure somehow emanating from this conversation. Of course, it wasn't actual pressure, it was her little voice power. He knew this, but couldn't help himself to make a gesture beneath the mask that was other than what he would usually do as an almost emotionless being molded into what was now an overfilled tusk known as a demon. Something appeared almost out of thin air at the back of his head when she spoke certain hocus pocus words to him yet again. The caution and rejection that he was displaying to her were for a solid reason indeed. Looking into someone and actually speaking with them were two very different things, but she far exceeded his own expectations and not in a good way. He finally completely turned around as he faintly just heard the tiptoes of someone jumping around. No, it wasn't because he had superhuman hearing. It was because there was a hint of paranoia within him and possibly PTSD from all the horrible things that had happened to him in his existence. It was what made him as strong as he was now. Again, this same strength of all within him resisted her with all their might out of pure rejection, paranoia, and an unrelenting sense of something hidden that was far stronger than any of these two things. This was something he stood up for and became the primary figure of for a very long time in the town where he was made demon-kind. No one knew of this reason for existence except one certain professor.

Ah, yes a large man finally approached. Professor Cornelius was finally here after his short leave and possibly arrived at the best of times... or the worst. For all he knew, professor Octavia had already been up to no good with this professor as well. Either way, a familiar face was always welcome. Though he would much rather enjoy the company of any other creature that wasn't his own kind. What wasn't very welcoming of this professor was the small red glint when his eyes looked to the dark of his mask. How odd... Why such an expression? Either way, it seemed he received a lot of praise for his work today. At least, a lot more than what he expected. His own hand met Cornelius' and he greeted back

"It was no problem, professor Marchosias. That is my job after all. My very existence belongs to these blessed grounds. Victory requires vision and vicissitudes to visit a vast carnival of knowledgeable volition."

Was that an answer or a faint clue to be left for Octavia? Perhaps. Maybe it was just Locust's chatty nature in effect and he did very much like riddles and hidden messages. He was, after all, an intellectual who very much enjoyed word play. She was right on the spot when she assumed him to be so secretive after all. Perhaps in all of his word plays was some sort of hidden vexation. Maybe not. Anyone could think ahead of such a strange thing and assume a lot, but the true meaning behind all his actions were unknown by even his own peers, except one of course. What strange and powerful verbiage indeed.

Ah, how interesting! They were able to meet afterall. It seemed they didn't know each other that well either. Octavia could feel herself grinning to herself a bit too much.. how could she pretend to be elegant like this. It was afterall just as much a façade as her own genius.. if such a thing could really be false. She couldn't help but wonder what it was like for others. She could certainly play a word game or two but she could feel a limitation, would it be easier to cross if she wore that kind of mask?? Nonono, she couldn't possibly have anyone look at the thing in front of her when she failed.. This was the perfect mask!

Feeling a new obsession rise she dared not speak for a moment, she'd let them speak and observe a bit. He probably realized by now the implication of what she was. She'd seen it many times, that look.. that feeling.. he could certainly trust something inside himself but how would others be affected. The more unique one was the harder it was to determine how others ticked, she didn't really have or need a reason, men of mystery.. masked men simply belonged on stage even if the stage had to be dropped on them. Then again this was also a colleague hence why she was being careful not to seduce the very person most vulnerable to her power into doing something regrettable.. herself. She played with her hair a bit, pretending to further the flirtations as she caught herself about to bite her rather expensive nails. The passing student arrived from her hideaway and might have heard something nice. Not that it mattered.. or did it? Octavia was a bit too distracted by her current obsessions to recall whether or not she said something that could sink into some students mind by accident... surely it was still an accident if one would have done worse alternatively. She did afterall claim she wasn't malicious in order to be so free with the help of this establishment.

Suddenly finding herself in a questionable situation, closer and closer dancing near to the flame she was now in her comfort zone. She'd made a forward introduction and like an artist, too much and very obviously so she began to roll it back a bit. Like a blossomed rose she didn't care to hide her thorns nor the scent of amorality too well, she could barely hide it any better than she could hide herself or the power within her voice. "Volition indeed, I was actually planning on giving a little lesson in such sometime soon. One can only wonder what drives anyone to follow the likes of us so haphazardly. Your academic artistry, and of course it's outcomes, is certainly a subject of study." simple flattery, like sharing candy with friends or fools. It mattered not, in the end it was sweet and satisfying. Since he was still here she'd choose a variation of introduction that built a narrative both for herself and others. Yes, she was simply a professor intending to teach something positive. Something that was relevant to one of her areas of expertise as one could probably deduce from her more obvious affect just by speaking. It didn't matter if he believed it or rejected it, she merely needed to slither back into her role seamlessly even if it meant lying to herself to whatever degree she could. Though more importantly she was still quite interested in roping more into this little trip of hers. She might have been on a wild goose chase but just as her words were in the air now so were theirs. Everyone had this power to change the world around them with words and each word would forever remain attached to them.. in some manner of speaking.

For now she simply made small talk and played along with Cornelius.. or was he playing along with her? She liked to think the end result would be the same but not even her own lies could convince herself that anyone among the three truly had matching goals beyond the most superficial aspects of them. Now that she thought about it she'd need to perhaps have a chat with that student afterall.. she'd look off a bit as though to see if the student was still there to be memorized, it wouldn't be hard to find that one but she just wanted to have another look.. it was too late so she simply turned her attention back to the conversation at hand thinking up some way to find both she'd had an eye on at once.

He shook Locust's hand and released it. There was something that had been going on between them that he missed but figured it didn't concern him. One of the students of the academy past by them and he nodded to her as she passed by. He began to wonder what else he had missed from the time of his absence, there was a lot of work to do now, he had to prepare for class and meet the students.
"I'm guessing we have a small number to start out, seeing as how the class has just been introduced to the academy?" He asked Locust. "Even so, the more minds we can mold for a better future of demons here and now in this academy, the better off the rest of the world may be. Unless we shape those minds for... more beneficial purposes for our kind."
He still needed to learn more about his colleagues so perhaps just that sentence would suffice for now.
Cornelius turned his attention to Octavia. "You're not causing any trouble yet are you?" He jested. Her nature always kept him on his toes.

One met the dark with learning. But in the end, learned his knowledge was wanting.
The world began without knowledge, and without knowledge will it end.
Dost not this ring clear and true?
Fear not, the dark, my friend.
      And let the feast begin.

      ᴛʜᴇᴍᴇ: Bloodborne

The violent fruition of verbiage would overflow this entire conversation to the point that it became apparent who the one with least aptitude for sixth sense was between the three. This newer professor who joined in on the conversation was far left behind in the current situation and with the release of both their hands, the situation would become even more apparent to this one hidden behind the mask. A certain air blew against his own volition the very moment they finished speaking altogether. It seemed they were in cahoots to let their own kind roam about freely. Again, this was something that was not in this charred demon's mindset. In fact, his thoughts was that there were too many demons and the mighty ones needed to perish in order for his kind to dim down. Speaking of mighty ones... one just touched his hand. Mayhap he was the one who threw the first rock as per the class? Folly. Surely he was just a professor above his wits teaching the hands-on portion of his class beyond the ability to perish himself. The gears behind the mask shifted and turned violently with every word that spat put of both their mouths. The feeling of being thrown into a gladiator's den filled with lions become much too apparent now that he was at the middle of this unbeknownst chaos. Thus all he could do was remain in his posture shifting eyes between both professors and seeming as though everything was normal, even in his tone.

"Ah, yes. Forgive me professor Marchosias, but perhaps you misinterpret me. Yes, we do have a small amount of students to start with and their minds are fresh, but my intent isn't for us to prevail as a race. We are not a subject of study, but a subject of misery and hatred. Our kind is more poisonous than good for this world and we are better off in the next world with Osiris and Hades. They should arm themselves against us effectively. Is that not the purpose of the class?"

It was in that paragraph that he stated his intentions very clearly on what he was teaching. He knew his kind was the lowest of the low within the confines of this dimension and that most of them meant death and despair to everything they touched. Again, out of the three, he was the most human. He answered both professors at the same time. It sickened him to the core just to think that anyone, like professor Balam said, "would follow them haphazardly". In any case, he wished anyone to follow him to the slaying of his own kind until he would also perish. He was unlike all the others and he proved that with every word that spat out of his mouth. Of course, this was his own opinion on the matter. Nothing of the sort that would involve his secret mission was spoken in any of these conversations even as a clue. The masked man did not have the liberty to do so before the time was ripe.

Word play was certainly strong between the both of these clashing personalities. From the very beginning, they had a connection that neither involved happiness, romance, nor anything strangely. There was most certainly still somewhat of a connection even if falsified by her. Perhaps she was one of the evil spirits that lurk around his time of beckoning? Perhaps. What she was now was no more than an object of disgust to himself and every word that came out of her mouth was like a stab to his ears. It wasn't because of her voice, actions, or even what he knew of her beforehand. It was something beyond the scope of hatred, blood, and living. She was like a thorn stuck at the very plant of a human's foot to forever torment them, yet not end their miserable lives there and then. How he kept his posture in the middle of such a high-tension conversation was beyond himself. To go against his own race was something almost unspeakable even between the three and yet he opened his mouth without remorse to curse his own existence. His own manner of being wasn't the only accursed one running between his teeth, but them as well. Yes, he was one to seek true balance and demons were tipping the balance too far off. He was well aware of this fact. That is why his aim was to rid the world of this mighty one who produced so many 2nd and 3rd hierarchy demons. Perhaps the world would finally be at more peace that it was now. For sure, just like Osiris and Hades, there were demons who served a justly purpose, but let's be honest... most of them served only themselves.

Having to redirect towards the academy after her trip to the Black Market, Ash looks around the Academy Grounds, the feeling of anxiety nearly kicks in but her focus helps remedy that. Reaching for a marked map in her pocket and opening it up, Ash tries to connect the buildings in which she'll find what she's looking for.

After finding a place to sit down and placing her bladed weapon firmly on her lap, her backpack falls to the ground as she gazed at the map of Aries Academy. A little frustrated that her job has been extended a bit more, Ash could only let out a long sigh before focusing on the piece of paper again, "I knew that dirty old man had a catch when he offered to smuggle our weapons into this place. At least my gear was with him." She though to herself with furrowed brow and squinted eyes.

With a good look around, Ash imprints the buildings in which she'll find the items, but for now, a little rest as she pulls out a big thermos to have a drink. She pulled her face mask down completely revealing a large scar on her right cheeks, though with her hair mostly grown on her right and everyone at a distance, she wasn't too worried about someone looking at it. Grabbing a sandwich from her bag, she munches on her food with a blank expression though a slight smile escapes her lips since it was made by someone from home.

Octavia Balam

Professor of magical studies

"Trouble? Of course not, I've been rather well behaved as far as anyone can tell." She told a dishonest sounding truth that twisted and played with the original question in a way that happened to avoid certain wording. As intended it seemed this little something would quickly be overshadowed by the more serious mood that arose from the other professors lips.. or whatever he made sounds with. She could do something similar but was it worth it? She listened and pondered the consequences both of this petty thing and the heavier issue proposed.

Fresh.. fresh indeed. She'd spoiled quite a few with ease and even managed to get away with it. The wonders a few liars could do to discredit true victims.. especially when victims didn't consider themselves to be victims and neither did the victimizer. This could have perhaps swayed her own opinion on herself but she had decided, for the sake of her cushy job here, that she wished to be the hero of her own tale she intended to pass on. Indeed, corruption was good, greed was good, chaos was mother of progress. Of the many wonderous gifts she'd given to her many selves the greatest and most powerful of them all was certainly the aptitude and material for studying some of the greatest truths or lies ever told depending on one's perspective.. or infinite insight according to some great beings who swore against such things but it was unlikely she'd run into such a thing in these halls.

In anycase, the other two had stated their intentions, staying mysterious had its perks and kept her safer but she couldn't help but expose herself in front of such a dashing audience. Truly lurking in shadows was not anymore her forte intellectually than it was physically.. there was only the matter of wording left then. For such she drew from lessons learned during quite some time ago back the last time when talk of demons was far more common than the demons themselves "Of all the beasts that plague this world isn't it curious how the worst those here suffer often resemble or imitate the one's that survived those very same dark times such beasts rose in? Our presence here is certainly no coincidence by certain paths of thought... how did that phrase go?..." She smiled a moment wondering if it was wise to tattle but realized those she spoke of were long dead by then "Sola dosis facit venenum.. a phrase I learned from some fine priests once upon a time. I forget the true meaning but in terms of this little chat this 'poison' you speak of could just as easily be called 'medicine' depending on the application.. Ah but going back to this misery and hatred of yours I wonder how students could possibly be expected to experience such a thing before leaving this little mouse cage far too well equipped to be anything less than those with power over others. I intend to create a world of choices for these descendants of those who survived. One where demons may indulge themselves as much as permitted according to the needs of all." She of course referred to a world where demons could more or less coexist even if that meant in opposition. She feigned a certain neutrality and favor for a democratic sort of society where the three of them could live as happily as permitted and even have a say in such.. but of course such a thing required accepting certain evils in this world. She in turn proposed a world where all suffering could simply be attributed to the errors of men and couldn't realistically be done away with completely or sometimes at all. A magnificent and just world where suffering often served a purpose. This neutrality however lived in a time where civilization was a bad joke and men actually valued their extremely short lives.. sometimes so much they'd sacrifice their kin to demons to extend them by mere months at a time. But again, living this way was their own choice so could this really be called evil? Especially if one couldn't prove this was the obvious outcome.. afterall the world considered itself to be the good that resisted their own evil to begin with did it not?

Yes, indeed she, no they would be the beautiful heroes of this tale in the end whichever path the others believed they chose for themselves. In truth, one lie she could never really convince herself of was that there was no connection between herself and the suffering of others, only that suffering was somehow acceptable in some sense or another. Truth or lie this was her little introduction to someone new, it seemed to sound about right for the task though there was something out of place, it wasn't her though.. it was a lost looking person nearby as demons gathered for this and that. Once was another day at the academy, twice was a omen perhaps.. or maybe a lucky break for an exhibitionist.

With her light meal finished and everything she needs to take note on has been made, Ash takes a look at the time, plenty of time has been given thanks to her objective being turned into a scavenger hunt. Taking out her cell to type out a message to others who are in contact with her, Ash sighs with content as her message is being sent. A look at the crowd before her with students and academy instructors would be normal for some, though the thought of going to school lingers, Ash knows she couldn't bare the feeling of claustrophobia and anxiety alike, especially when they're individuals she doesn't know.

With another sigh escaping her breath, she pulls up her face mask to hide away her scar, with a heft up, her tactical pack is over a shoulder as she finds a secluded area to sit or a tree to rest beneath. Dropping her gear down but her sword close, Ash sits down with her back against the trunk of a tree.

Grabbing her bag and opening the front zipper, she pulls out a pair of headphones which she puts on and connecting the aux to her cell. Another look around, everyone doesn't seem to take notice of Ash, a few glances and a mature woman taking note of her, she curls her knees and wraps her arms around as if to keep herself inside a bubble. However, as her music begins to play, a sense of euphoria takes her mind off her anxiety of crowds. A silent breeze is felt, a single chime rings, she leans to her side almost to the point of falling though she doesn't fall as if something that isn't there is keeping her from falling.

Her eyes fall, calm breaths and muscles relax, her heart eases as the sound of people is flooded by the music she listens to. Head grows heavy with exhaustion kicking in as she rests her head down on her knees. A single leaf falls towards her bag only to be sliced in half within sword length, with the halves of the leaf falling away from her, she stows her sword beside her. "I should've wore longer jeans." Ash thought to herself as she moves her bag under her knees to cover herself.
