She'd walked back to the dorm like she was walking on egg-shells, tiptoeing around any rough terrain and avoiding any students that looked like they might make sudden movements.

This was her egg, entrusted to her by Hel, and by Jack Skellington himself, she would take care of it.

Rationally, she recognized that it was also a good distraction, something to take up her time and keep her mind off of Initiate matters (as she'd dubbed her situation).

Her other minipets already served this function, and another one to pamper certainly couldn't hurt - it would take a bit of time for the fruttens to adjust to the raven, once it hatched, but she was sure that Patty's patience with new creatures would rub off on them, too. He'd sat through the whole frutten flock arriving, after all, and taken it like a champ.

Once back in her room, she located the closest frutten sleeping on a soft surface - Penny curled up on the bed, as it happened - and carefully deposited the egg under her. The minipet took it nicely, chirping sleepily before curling up again and taking no heed of the fact that she was now the designated egg sitter.

Satisfied, the corners of Leo's lips curled upwards. This was good. A pair of the other fruttens were curling around her feet, chirping for attention, and she squatted down to scratch them on the head. "No time for that now, we gotta find a pillow for the egg, alright?"

It'd have to be one of the larger ones, large enough that it could fit an eggwarming frutten, but soft enough that the egg was in no danger. In fact, she was pretty sure she had the perfect thing...

One last scratch and Leo got up, moving to her closet. She sometimes used it when sitting on the floor, but her mom had made it stash it away when it wasn't out for use; rummaging around at the bottom, it didn't take her long to find what she was looking for, and happy, she clutched the pillow. It would be perfect for this.

The egg had hatched, and into the cutest, fluffiest little bird Leo had ever seen! She wasn't really into avian minipets, hadn't ever owned one before, to be honest, but Egg was adorable and fantastic and was changing her mind on this topic. Not that she had room for any more minipets - she was pretty sure Egg would be the last in a while, barring any unexpected surprises. It was getting pretty crowded in her dorm with all the fruttens, Patty and now Egg.

Not that she was complaining in the least. She loved coming home to her minipets and getting a royal welcome, chirping coming at her from every direction.

Speaking of chirping... it hadn't been long before Egg had started chirping and the fruttens had picked up on the fact that their new friend spoke the same language as them. Well. Sorta. There did seem to be some language barriers, not that it seemed to stop anyone; the fruttens were a lot more interested in Egg now that she'd hatched, as opposed to when they'd been her egg warmers. Not that they'd complained terribly about that, and Leo still thought the idea had been one of her more brilliant ones.

She wasn't quite sure how she was supposed to go about training Egg, though - what she'd been doing so far was carrying the chick along with her everywhere she went, pointing things and people out to her in the louder-than-normal voice someone used when they weren't quite sure they were being understood. She didn't know if any of it was sticking, but the chick seemed to appreciate the time spent together anyhow; and it was nice to have some portable fluff with her.

So far Egg had spent most of their adventures held in Leo's hands, sticking out of a secure pocket or resting in her cleavage, chirping a lot at everything and everyone. She had grand plans for when the raven got older, visions of strutting around with Egg on her shoulder like a proper pirate.

Not that she was actually a pirate or anything.
