Mimsy was laughing, the officer was laughing... Mimsy's laughter was a bit contagious. He tried to keep his sad pathetic eyes on but he cracked. the sound of maniacal laughter was contagious.

It was high pitched, and probably should have been more creepy than genuine but he was a cat. And a cheshire cat at that.

He still hurt a little but he laughed anyway. And then turned and licked his side where he was shot and then sat up quickly still giggling head tilted to the side reaching the limitations of his body. His grin never left his face. never.

It was ok. They were all a little mad.

The man called her gross. That was so fantastic that she collapsed into a gigglefit on the ground, unable to stand any longer.

"Thank you! But I am married!" Mimsy stretched up, as if she intended to take his hand, and smacked it for a partial high five. "Congratulations!"

Her words dissolved into laughter again, encouraged by the sound of Carlos laughing beside her. As much as she wanted to praise him or his good sense of camaraderie, she could not quite manage to speak; she reached to take his hand instead, and held it tight as she kept on laughing.

Petro had turned into a celebrity in a matter of seconds. This was both good, and bad - good, because they'd taken the handcuffs off of him and were obviously no longer about to arrest him. Bad.. because there was no way he was going to be able to lay low, now.

Cameras were snapping, girls were screaming and fainting, and a new trend of tearing clothing (though it remained on, people simply started ripping tears on the edges) had begun.

He'd done this. He'd started it all.

Laughter was as good as freedom. Both of the officers rose their guns up into the air and started firing wildly, nearly knocking their eagles out of the sky as they shot fireworks in the air. "WOOOOOOO! YEAAAAAAAAH! NOW THAT'S WHAT WE CALL A PARTY!!"

Everyone was laughing. That was good. That was very good. He giggled some more and felt something grab his paw. he looked down and coiled those finger things around Mimsy's and smiled at her a little more the edges of his grin lifting just a little perhaps even reaching his eyes just for a moment.

He was feeling a bit tired, it wasn't normal for a cat to be up this long from a nap but he didn't dare mention it.

And, as in uffish thought she stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came wiffling through the tulgey wood,
And laughter as she came.

He whispered. Getting closer to Mimsy's ear.

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The verbal blade went snicker-snack!
she sang it dead, and thoughts from her head
she went galumphing back.

Laughter was a good as freedom it seemed but he had to give his compliments to her. She slayed the strange cannon. Carlos leaned on her a moment watching the fireworks before getting up and attempting this standing on two legs thing again making sure to laugh just a little more than normal. He did not want hit with one of those things again, it hurt more than being dropped from a tree.

Ignatius watched out of the corner of his eye as the boil he was scolding decided to strip anyway. He did say that was going to garner a lot of attention and he certainly didn't seem to be wrong with the way people were thronging around him. Ignatius grinned. Ha. He was right.

And he was also being treated to a show as a bonus which was nothing he could complain about at all. Especially since multiple creeple seemed to be following the boil's lead. Just to egg it on, and also to blend in with the throng, he pursed his lips together and gave a wolf whistle in his direction.

Honestly, Ignatius fit right in here. Celebrating creeple who danced and sung and screamed and were always energetic, a lot like he was.

In fact, he fit in so well he honestly seemed to be blending right in.

The sparkling skin probably helped.

His intoxicated mirth seemed gone. And that look on his face and that tone. This didn't seem good and honestly some part of Maple wasn't the least bit surprised that she would end up angering the fellow after a while. And thus failing horribly at all of this. She let out a panicked little sound as she clutched the untouched glass of champagne and nearly dropped her sparkler.

"I'm j-just n-not.. very g-good at th-that t-type of d-dancing," the witch stuttered out. There had been an attempt at Prom but still, at least there she was at least a bit more relaxed even with her nerves. Here, not so much. Lost and alone with a strange man could do that. "And I'm t-trying to f-fin-"

And that's when the chaos the others were instigating sort of went off. There were some sort of explosions going on - like actual and bursts of women screaming for some reason. Maple jumped and squeaked and her eyes went wide. "Wh-whatwasth-that?!" It had seemed closer, not like the ones that had been going right above their heads - well obviously not the gaggle of elated female cries - that tried to down out the sound around them. But it didn't seem to continue, which the ghoul couldn't say for certain she took as a good sign at all.

Their joyous kinship of laughter over nothing made Mimsy feel both at home and homesick all at once, but she was content to just keep laughing on the ground of Independence for a while. Or she had been content to do so, before Carlos recited a revision of the Jabberwocky.

A revision just for her.

"I like you." She leaned towards him to kiss his forehead - another thing she'd learned from Robert - then burst out laughing again. There was more that she wanted to say, but the laughter got in the way of it. Still, she tried, regardless of how audible her words were.

"We are excellent friends now. Now and forever! Come on," she urged, tugging on his hand. "Let's go home. Home to Wonderland!"

That was not where either of them needed to go, as the options should have been Amityville or Deus Ex, but neither of those places appealed to her at the moment. The glimmer in her eyes was an adventurous one, and she appeared a bit mentally detached. It was exactly the sort of mad look that a Cheshire Cat would probably find familiar.

With a wide grin, she pulled him into her arms, and stood up once she was certain that she was holding him securely.

"We are late," she informed the partying men, brows raised. "Pardon us! The tea party is elsewhere to nowhere, in that particular fashion, and it will take a long while to reach it!"

Surrounded by people who were mimicking him, Tro tried to keep his fellow Halloweeners in his peripheral vision.

She could have laughed all she wanted, but Mimsy made it very clear where she was from.

And that was not here.

The officer beside her stopped laughing, stopped dancing, and grabbed her forcefully by the arms, pulling them back behind her. She was handcuffed, and pulled back out of the crowds as quickly as possible. Away from the others.

And out of sight.

The crowd converged tightly, making it almost impossible to move. Impossible to follow. Impossible to have any idea where their friend might have just been dragged off to.

The law was swift in Independence Town. Freedom wasn't free.

AJ spotted his little witch, so he said an "excuse me" and temporarily left the beautiful Sczes and Carlos to rescue her, she seemed to be in big trouble.

Even though it was a late arrival, he did appear. "Ohhhhh Excuse me Sir." He stepped in, ignoring what big things seemed to be happening, Maple first. "She's not dancing yet because she's waiting for me." He smiled, gently putting his hand onto her shoulder, as if giving her support while gently pulling her closer to him. "She might seem look a fallen angel, but she's taken by a lucky guy already."

He paused, leaning his head towards her shoulder like a cute couple. "By me." He beamed like a blissful boy. He then turned to grab her hands and said softly. "Sorry dear, I am too nervous about our first date that I am late." He apologized sweetly with a smile and kissed on her cheek while whispered near her ear. "Please co-operate with me, we need to eliminate the suspicion and get away." He then moved to a arm-to-arm distance and amused. "Wow my lady, you look so gorgeous today! You always bring me surprise, I love you~" AJ hugged the girl and took her hand, technically staying further away from the man.

He didn't like that man touching his little witch, he was a bit possessive of his friends, especially this adorable little sister like witch.

No inappropriate touch without his approval, at least.

Carlos started to follow along, not at all minding being drug to wonderland.

"Tea? I love a good spot of tea." his smile widened and he let her pick him up. Mimsy felt like one of his sisters, her grin widened into a Cheshire cat's. Maybe she was a bit of both. Maybe she was a spirit send just for him. Carlos loved his flickering chariot too. He would have to think of a real riddle for his Mimsy.

He wasn't sure where wonderland was, but it sounded wondrous.

Carlos was suddenly dropped when Mimsy was ripped from him. What? He stared at the horrible thing that stole his Mimsy. He could do nothing it happened too fast, so fast he hardly knew is she was real at all. Carlos was left alone in a crowd of people.

All alone. He stared after her vanished form, unable to do a thing. Not a thing.

one of his paws reached for her.

"All mimsy were the borogoves," he said softly, his face still twisted in his grin, but his eyes were sad. Where his ears normal they would have fallen along with his posture as he deflated into nothing.

With Mimsy gone, and Carlos now down on the floor, even Petro's fans seemed a little suspicious of the group who all looked out of place. The man who had been dancing with Maple put his hands up, dancing away when her boyfriend showed up. He respected their boundaries, but not the fact that they were part of the strange individuals.

Everything was just a little bit quieter. (Which really wasnt' that quiet at all.)

"So." The man who'd been dancing with Maple, asked the group. "Seriously. What's your deal, guys?"

Ignatius had started distancing himself from the rest of the group when they started acting so very obviously not Independence Town like (wasn't it obvious they were just there to party?) so the fact that they seemed to be glancing in his direction too surprised him.

Think, Ignatius, Think. He couldn't let himself get caught, getting caught looked rather unpleasant.

Instead, he tried to act like the rest of the crowd, glancing at the particularly strange ones that had gotten themselves noticed just as suspiciously as everyone else was staring at them. What was the saying? When in Halloween Town, act as the citizens do? He was almost certain that applied entirely to this Independence Town place as well. If they wanted to dance, he would dance. If they wanted to stare, he would also stare--though he just couldn't stay still no matter how hard he tried, legs still tapping out to the music and the booms.

Of course, perhaps that was just adding to the purpose of continuing to fit in. Perhaps Ignatius was a good actor, because he seemed to be doing a fairly decent job at it.

Though he may have used a moment where no one was looking at him to shoot particularly big eyes at AJ and Maple, a sort of, "Knock it off and blend in!" signal that might have been easily lost in translation.

Though it may have been too late at this point.

In an instant, Maple went from relief to wanting to dissipate right then and there. Someone had found her and come to her immediate rescue, someone she had to take a moment to place but was just so happy to realize it was AJ. But then he had to talk and touch her and lean in close. Like really close. And talk. That was already mentioned. But those words. Her usual reaction whenever the boil spoke sweetly of and to her went off just as usual. "It's ... alright..."

And then just escalated when he kissed her cheek. And said they were on a date. Suddenly there was a ringing in her ears and things got hazy and unfocused, her mind went numb there and if she had an ounce of strength that glass in her hands would have just shattered to pieces. Instead it just sort of shook as she felt very close to fainting. Even after he whispered into he ear, explaining and instructing her. Still all she could do was smile stupidly as he continued with his act, complimenting her and speaking so lovingly.

"I'm g-glad.. you l-like it..." Maple managed to squeak out as he held her at arm's length to inspect her. Her brown eyes managed a glance at the other fellow, watching him retreat and back off finally from the pair.

Then AJ said that he loved her. And hug her. She knew full well that it was all to divert attention away from them; seriously, she had heard him but she had also just heard that! Maple nearly clocked out right then and there, instead she just sort of melted into the boil. "I..." (Though, her heart might have broken if she learned he thought of her as a little sister).

She barely registered that man still lingering, asking questions, nor Ignatius making a complaint. Sorry Carlos, she didn't see you either.
