Just then a boy appeared in front of them and opened the door while saying, "Here, let me get this for you ladies." "Thank you," Helga politely replied with a condescending smile, but then she noticed that the boy seemed to be paying far more attention to Alice than to her. She managed to suppress a look of annoyance. The skinny girls always seem to get more attention than the big-boned girls like Helga. Of course Helga reminded herself that she didn't care about that, since the boy obviously wasn't in her class, on more than one level. And so Helga maintained a polite silence.

"Thank you." Alice politely replied to the boy. Alice didn't seem to notice the boy paying attention to her because she was pretty oblivious when it came to love. So, she just kept walking without saying a word. 'The people here are very nice.' She thought.

It didn't take them long to find the stairs. "Up we go!" Helga said to Alice with an encouraging smile, although now that she was looking up the stairs, she was not feeling that encouraged. Flying would have been better, but not really a viable option now. Helga started up the stairs, and as she did, she began to hum Ride of the Valkyries as sort of a marching tune. Perhaps she was ignoring Alice to a certain extent, or perhaps it was a matter of her being uncertain about how to have a polite conversation with someone who was not a Valkyrie.

Daniel walked into the commons area, writing in his notebook. He wasn't really paying attention as he made his way up the stairs, so he would stumble a bit every so often.

As Alice trailed behind Helga she was debating with herself whether to have a small chat with her, or to just walk up the stairs in silence. After a few moments of deep thinking, Alice thought it would be best to walk in silence. 'Maybe Helga might be the quiet type,' she thought to herself.
