This was the last auction of the group and the crowds were back to watch how this one would turn out. Tristan walked calmly up to the podium, smiling genially out at the crowd. With a nod from Tristan, the audience settled as much as it would. He gestured at the handler at the side of the ring and had the mare brought out. "Today we have a grey mare with piebald and dapple markings. She has both speed and a great training temperament which makes her suitable for both the race and other sporting events."

The handler walked the mare around so that all who had gathered would be able to see her.

"Let's start the auction."

The bidding climbed much quicker than Tristan had expected, not because he doubted the quality of the mare, but simply because of the general pace of auctions. Many bidders had to drop out of the running extremely quick.
