User ImageOrco always felt the draw of the sea; really, he felt the draw of all water, but the ocean especially. He loved his family, but he was an adult now, and he had been enjoying some private, quiet time with himself.

Just him and the eastern beachy coast, with a cool breeze ruffling his thick dark fur. He was glad it wasn't beat-down sun; the overcast sky kept his paws from sweating against the sand, which was good, because as much as the loved the beach, he hated when he got sand stuck all over him--generally, he avoided laying down until he was in the water, and by then it was more floating.

Although he was glad to have the independence from his family, he couldn't help but wonder if there was anything more for him: friends, maybe a tribe or...maybe even a girl, a potential new family for him to find. The idea caught on nervousness in his gut, but at the same time, the idea filled him with a frothy excitement that made him itchy.

He needed to meet some new foxes, and fast. The problem was, he didn't even know where to start, so he could only hope that they would find him.

User Image Chyrsocolla was at it again. Avoiding family was a habit recently learned. It wasn't that she didn't love her family, it was more that they didn't quite let her get away with her shenanigans anymore. It was getting tiresome being called out by her siblings or parents. It also stung somewhat that Chrys was excluded from the tight bond between the twins... Yes, she understood twins often became closer, but it didn't really make sense to her. Why did they prefer one another? They looked the same, yes, but why did that influence how they felt? They were all, technically, triplets. They had been born on the same day and hatched at the same time.... So why was Chrys excluded simply because she looked different?

Bah, like she cared. Cobalt and Osmium could do their own thing for all she cared... She had other things to do and a life to explore without them.

All this pondering and sulking had led her to the ocean. It was a draw she had become accustomed to. She had always loved water, ever since she was little. It calmed her and reminded her to let go of the things she held so fiercely onto when it only hurt her. She wouldn't mind staying on the beach forever, but that was rather impractical, wasn't it? She had other things to do in life, and places to go. The ocean would always be here, waiting for her.

Hm? Her ear flicked as she heard noise in the distance. It wasn't a crash or a wave, but it wasn't loud enough to quite register. Blue eyes flicked up to view what it was that she had caught, tail swishing gently in curiosity. Was that another fox in the distance? Would she finally meet another fox not family?

Just as Orco had settled into a pseudo-meditative state, a smell caught his nose, different from that of the ocean or the beach or even the trees behind him. Reluctantly, he opened his eyes and looked around; ah, yes, another fox was walking along the beach, a good distance down the beach, but it was definitely a fox nonetheless.

After a moment of thoughtful debate with himself, Orco stood up, stretched his bones and began to walk, the surf beating pleasantly against his paws as he went. He looked back, once, considering just staying where he was, but he saw his pawprints disappearing in the sand beneath the waves and he realized that he just had to keep moving forward or, eventually, he would get swallowed up too.

When he got closer, he realized that the fox was in fact a female fox, black, with some blue markings spattering her back and ears. Probably pretty, if he got closer to her. But he had nothing specific to say to her, nor any deep desire to be the first to interact, so he stopped walking, close enough so that he was definitely within her line of eyesight but so that he certainly wasn't invading her space or forcing himself upon her in any way. He was just kinda there if she wanted to talk.

He hoped she would want to talk.

She had looked away from the strange figure to focus on the waves, caught in a calming trance. Suddenly, when she glanced back, the fox was way closer. She was caught off guard, taking a step back in alarm. Her ears flicked and mouth tightened until she realized the fox wasn't coming closer, and he wasn't going to hurt her. Good, right?

Maybe she was on his territory. Some foxes claimed whole forests, or beaches in this case. Was she in his home? The vixen automatically began to make herself smaller, already slipping into the habit of pretending to be a gentle and innocent vixen. Well, wouldn't you?! Some foxes attacked strangers, and she wasn't about to go limping home with open wounds. Yet, the fox hadn't attacked yet, and he didn't quite seem to be showing signs of doing it.... So maybe she was fine?

"Hello?" She decided to test her luck, as usual. Her head flicked to view the male, startled by the fact he had similar colors to her. How pretty~ She loved blue, and not just because it was on her own body. She liked water, and mostly everyone knew water was blue. Except that one human pond she saw a few years back that had been an ugly brown....

"Am I intruding?" She added as an almost after thought, head tilting to view the male more. She still was excited about meeting a fox who wasn't family. Maybe a new friend? That'd be ideal.

Orco turned his head at the sound of her voice and offered a hesitant smile. "Hello," he responded simply, taking in her submissive body language and hesitant tremor of her voice. She was afraid of him, then? She didn't need to be, he wasn't going to attack her. He had no truck with her.

"No, of course not," he shook his head, realized he was being kind of standoffish, and turned to face her wholly. He had been correct--she was pretty, with light blue flowers and other white markings across her back and tail and even near her eye. Yes, she was quite lovely, and judging by her position, she wasn't about to attack him.

Then again, maybe she just wanted him to let his guard down?

"Am I intruding?" he mirrored back, a slight smile rising to his muzzle. "Do you or your family claim this beach?" he added, looking around as if he expected them to appear and chase him away. That would be most unfortunate, since it had been quite some time since he'd interacted with someone who wasn't his brother or his parents--and she seemed perfectly nice thus far.

His response caused a quiet twitch of her tail. She paused in her own response, probably considering how to react. Did she want to turn on the innocent play? Maybe... Ugh, she hated this routine of trying to figure out who she was going to be before approaching someone.

She caught his smile, ears perking up and causing her own quiet smile to form. Oh? He seemed perfectly nice-- and he wasn't family!

"What? Oh, no." Her family claim this bench? That'd be so nice, but sadly didn't happen. Living on a beach would be fantastic, to be honest. She could always rest on the warm sand and touch the cool water. She'd find seashells, and sleep to the sound of waves. Oh, how nice.

"Sadly, no. It'd be lovely if we had claimed this beach, though." She glanced back at the male, drawing circles in the sand with one of her claws. Looking up, she wiggled her tail playfully. "Now that you brought the idea up I may need to bring the idea to my folks."
