I've really wanted to for about two or three months now. I started last winter as a social smoker and than began regularly smoking ever since. I've got a really bad pack a day habit and I have been trying to quit but after each failure the habit just gets worse. Any tips/advice/stories anyone would like to share?

Luckily I've never started up. My mom did a year or two ago and I think she got some Chantix and was able to quit by using that.

Here is a motivational picture for you: Link

That is a inspiring link. I actually saw it before I started smoking.

I don't think I want to try taking any patches or oral pills to stop, though. I've considered the gum, but most people I've spoken to or known have said it didn't help them at all. Might try the Mr. Sir route and eat sunflower seeds all day.

My husband and dad both used the patch to quit.

I might consider it as an option if all else fails.

i managed to quit about 3 years ago after 7 years of smoking and several failed attempts
i just went cold turkey after my mom was diagnosed with cancer and i got a really bad URT infection
no nicotine replacements or substitute habits

now, in the last year or so, i've been able to puff at a party once in a while and not have cravings or anything
but it was supersucky in the beginning

My mom sucked on suckers and candy to quit. She basically did it cold-turkey after smoking for almost 20 years. She had to stop because she was coughing up brown stuff and could hear her heart beating at night hard.
