Styxx was born to the pride opposing the time lords. While many of his pride were plain, with little markings to speak of, he had been marked by the gods and scorned for it. His father one of the pride's leaders, he swore that the markings had not come from him, but from his whoring mate. Still, the boy had his eyes and most of his coloring, so his father tried to accept him.
As a cub, his father started training him to abandon emotions for logic and battle prowess. When he showed empathy, he was beaten. Perhaps it was a tender heart, or maybe just that he was that stupid, but Styxx had such trouble letting go of his emotions that his father gave up, turning him over to the pride physicians. There he was beaten and burned until he covered his emotions. He was far too empathetic for his own good, unable to abandon them completely, he hid them away.
Once, he met a young girl-cub just a bit younger than he was. Her coat was a dead giveaway for a Time Lady who had wandered out of her pride's territory, but he didn't reveal her. She'd been so scared of him, so he had reassured her. She eventually explained that it wasn't what he was, but the scars on his side, she hadn't known what it was and worried she might get sick, too.
They talked for a time, Styxx never revealing his heritage.
They met several times after that, Styxx learning to relish her company, the way she accepted him and showed him kindness. When a great rumble shook the land and his pride learned that the mouth of the valley had been closed, he never saw her again. He never explained to her that he was a Da'lek, not a rogue of the canyon or a slave.
He grew to be a great tactician, trained by a warrior slave in the battle techniques of the outside as well as within.
He was eventually betrayed by his second-in-command, his dominant paw impaled on a sharpened stick before he was handed over to their enemies. Held by the Time Lord interrogators, he was brutalized in various ways, taking revenge for his abilities as well as trying to glean information he refused to yield.
While he was being held prisoner, a lioness came upon him. She didn't appear to be a Time Lady and so he warned her that the guards' rotation would soon be up, that she would be captured if she didn't escape right then. For reasons he didn't understand, she freed him and led him out of the caves. When they reached safety, she asked if there was anything he wanted in return for his assistance. Sarcastically, he responded that he wanted to leave the valley. With the her aid (After revealing her true form as a goddess), Styxx was able to leave the valley.
Free of his tormentors, he now travels the land, avoiding others at all cost. His wanderings, at the direction of the Goddess of Messengers, has led him to a lonesome desert. For all that he hated being so alone, Styxx has finally felt home for once in his life.
