50 Things I Will Not Be Doing This Year

So a couple of years back, I created a thread called "100 Things I Love About Life," in which I named 100 things I loved about everything in my life and how I lived it. It was really warmly received and if I had the chance to do it again, I'd have so much more to add. My wonderful girlfriend included at the top.

I'm creating this thread in response to things like New Year's resolutions, promises, and vows to do certain things whether in the year or for the rest of one's existence. Those promises are hard to keep, but I thought maybe we're looking at this the wrong way. Maybe we should be looking at the things we certainly will not be doing this year - not only to be a little funny, but also to remind us of how strong we already are and how strong we can become.

So without further ado, here are the 50 Things I Will Not Be Doing This Year:

1. I will not smoke a cigarette.
2. I will not drive a truck.
3. I will not learn how to play the flute.
4. I will not eat broccoli.
5. I will not stop writing.
6. I will not stop reading.
7. I will not stop playing guitar.
8. I will not stop singing.
9. I will not ignore the swing set in the park if I'm walking by.
10. I will not neglect my wonderful pets.
11. I will not say that I hate anyone. Ever.
12. I will not vote for a Republican.
13. I will not upload porn.
14. I will not spam forums with inane comments.
15. I will not buy too many clothes.
16. I will not put the camera down if I feel like it's a memory worth capturing.
17. I will not stop eating steak.
18. Or garlic.
19. Or macaroni and cheese.
20. Or mashed potatoes.
21. Or any variety of chocolate I find.
22. I will not leave my girlfriend.
23. I will not forget how much my family loves me.
24. I will not forget how much I love my family.
25. I will not let go of an opportunity if I feel like it's perfect.
26. I will not move to Texas.
27. Or Alabama.
28. Or Florida. Sorry, guys.
29. I won't move to Montana, either.
30. Or Wisconsin.
31. Or even New York.
32. I will not let my savings account run dry.
33. I will not drink excessively.
34. I will not toss out any of my writing.
35. I will not read 50 Shades of Grey.
36. I will not compromise my opinion that the Twilight series blows chunks.
37. I will not ride a motorcycle.
38. I will not get mad at myself for needing to cry.
39. I will not let anyone's negative comments get to me.
40. I will not defer my college loans.
41. I will not lose my love for Star Wars.
42. I will not miss out on a good hike.
43. I will not catch a frog.
44. I will not intentionally physically injure anyone.
45. I will not stop laughing.
46. I will not stop smiling.
47. I will not stop dreaming.
48. I will not stop loving.
49. I will not stop giving.
50. I will never forget how much everyone in my life means to me, and how much I must mean to them.

Since the first post, I have broken the following vows:

33. I will not drink excessively.
38. I will not get mad at myself for needing to cry.

So on Christmas my aunt was a complete ninja and broke broccoli in our meal, so...

4. I will not eat broccoli.

That's broken.

And it was not tasty.
