Myths as part of worship and ritual...

I saw this on another site, and thought it was a great question, so I thought I'd share it with you all...

As in, reading them out?

They're not myths, but I've found a Homeric Hymn makes a great addition to a Greek-flavoured ritual. Depending on holiday, I mention mythological happenstances in my rituals.

I'll have to think about the last questions. I'm not sure I'd call it a "myth" as such but there are parts of the Havamal I come back to sometimes when I feel the need.

Myths in my tradition are very important to the rituals I perform. Since my tradition suggest that the myths are also symbolic ways of transforming one's self, one has to act out the myths in a way so one can experience the myth first hand. By experiencing the myths firsthand one can come to understand them personally.

Anyway that's my take on it.
