Elizabeth Worthington was completely and totally lost. She had not even the slightest idea of how she ended up in the middle of such an expanse of trees and green. The last thing she remembered was falling asleep in her warm soft bed. Next thing she knew, she was waking up in a blanket of burlap in the middle of this forest. As she stood to get a look at things, she noticed that she had a good pair of shoes on. Thinking on it, she then noticed that she was wearing one of her better dresses as well. Looking around Elizabeth tried to get a good sense of her surroundings.

"Where in the world am I? These can't be the woods near the edge of the property..."

Elizabeth had been forbidden to enter them since she was young. Though being positive that these weren't the same she was thinking of. Those were much more welcoming and beautiful than where she was standing now.

(I think I'm going to keep this character after all this hunt and whatnot is over. I like the name and I think she may be interesting.)

A broken twig lies in your path. Bending down to retrieve it, you notice that it has a faint spicy scent and the inside of the wood is green and pliable. Something has passed through here recently.

Rolling the stick between her fingers, Soibhan glanced around for more prints. Her curiosity was quickly turning into the desire for adventure, no matter how small. She'd grown weary of the endless training and nothing to show for it; nothing had been heard from the wolves or Gwyn in months now. And as much as she liked singing baudy songs in taverns all night, this was a welcome distraction from what her life had currently fallen into.

Spotting the prints, she darted after them soundlessly. She was on the hunt.

You stop to examine a leafless buckthorn shrub covered in eggplant-colored berries. Some of its lower branches have been bent and broken, but these branches appear to have been dead for a long time, so there's no telling when the event occurred. This is poor evidence of an animal's trail, but it's better than nothing.

Mist began rising from the damp forest floor not too long ago; now it's all around you, muting the autumn colors behind a ghostly bluish veil. You can still see well enough to stick to the path you've chosen, but as you walk or ride on you begin to catch glimpses of something white showing through the sparse yellow leaves of a buckthorn hedge.

You investigate.

Unfortunately it is only the skeleton of a large stag, stripped of flesh but otherwise almost perfectly intact; time has bleached its bones to the stark paleness that distracted you. A single wild rose has grown up through one of its eye sockets.

You happen upon a clearing. At the very center lies a fairy circle of mushrooms, unusually large, and within it several rabbits, which are all staring at you. Their gaze is unsettling. They seem to know something.

All five rabbits are companion pets, not familiars!

You may choose to either take a rabbit or walk away with two points. Please quote me with your decision! If you choose a rabbit, provide your order of preference (omitting any you aren't interested in). If we don't hear back from you within 24 hours, you will be given two points and the game will move on. Rabbits whose uncert links are crossed out have already been claimed.

You hear the loud pop of a branch breaking deeper in the forest. After a moment of consideration, taking in the dense bluish mist rising from the forest floor, you set off in the sound's direction. It could be nothing, but it's worth investigating… as long as you're careful.

You win two points this turn.

You pause for a moment to get your bearings and cannot resist taking in the breathtaking beauty of the autumnal wood. Even with the weather overcast the vivid scarlets and yellows of the foliage are as rich as dyed velvet against the gray sky and the black trunks of the trees. Gazing into the infinite reaches of the forest is like looking into stained glass…

When you turn back around an enormous fox with a luxurious pelt is standing directly in your path, watching you. Its eyes seem amused, somehow. It quickly dashes off into the undergrowth before you can react — but at least now you have a pretty good idea of where you should be heading.

You win four points this turn.

The trees in this area of the wood are ancient and dense enough to block out most of the light. The floor is carpeted in a rich coating of moss and fallen leaves, all a deep shade of scarlet. Eventually you become aware of a low whispering sound coming from above you. You look up.

There is something pale and strange in the dark webwork of branches, something moving… you receive the impression of long, crooked fingers like broken twigs, bright eyes that seethe with malice; it is whispering at you…

When you come back to yourself no time seems to have passed at all, but the look of the sky and the numbness of your legs suggest that you have been standing in the same spot, motionless, for several minutes. Something distracted you, but you can't remember what it was.

You do not win or lose any points this turn.

The forest was kind of dark and scary, and Kristine Whitfield wasn't sure anymore if coming here was the best idea. In theory, she liked going out and exploring, but in practice she was terrified. It was a fox that got her into this mess. At least, she thought she saw a fox. Kristine could have been seeing things; this was a frequent problem for her. Her mind was always playing tricks because other people never seemed to quite see what she saw. The fox was on the edge of the woods, and it stared right at her, almost through her. Ultimately, she didn't want to be here, but she felt like she had to be here, so she pressed in deeper.

You have reached a creek. Its narrow length is lined with rocks and moss, and bright autumn leaves meander downstream, turning languidly in the current. As you draw nearer you notice faint markings in the mud between two rocks: fox prints, almost entirely worn away by time. They aren't recent, but knowing the animal's preferred path is still somewhat useful.

Silje found the prints and waited patiently for her human to catch up. She nosed them and faced the general direction. And though Sebastian knew it was never in her nature to hunt, she seemed intent on helping him in any way she could. He appreciated that and rubbed his Guardian's neck before moving onwards. The prints weren't fresh, but at least it was better than nothing.

His eyes shone brightly and fingers tightened in predatory glee. With the freshly broken twig's scent embedded into memory, he continued onward. Success so early into the hunt could mean only good things from hereon out. His coat flapped open in agreement.

You disturb some leaves, and beneath them you find a perfect fox print pressed into the damp mud. Was the fox trying to hide its tracks? Regardless, this is excellent evidence of a trail.

The mare Ysalone had borrowed from Lady Kinross shook her head and snorted. Though the horse seemed unfazed by the creepiness of her surroundings, the skeleton spooked her and she crab-stepped away from the bleached bones. A small chill ran down Ysalone's spine as she gave the mare a small pat. There was something oddly poetic about the skeleton and its rose... but not something she wanted to dwell on.

"Continuons," she decided, whispering to the mare and pressing her forward with her calf.
