Well, to be quite honest, mother's DO kick their kids out of the house at age 10, expecting them to fend for themselves afterwards. So maybe 5 years old is their normal age to have them running around unsupervised...

And really, if I was trying to kidnap a kid and they threw a fire breathing lizard at me....Well....I'd find a different ********' kid.

also, the only schools you ever see are trainer schools, there's no universities or colleges and academics are pretty much unheard of. how does anything get done in pokeland? neutral

you never hear of Kings/Queens or Presidents/Prime Ministers either...who the hell is in charge of it all? how does the political system work?

nah, just go back to where the wild pokemon are more level appropriate and go from there.

Grinding does get a bit boring, but it's a necessary thing, unfortunately

I think it's regular parenting. It's like trusting them a babysitter. A really awesome babysitter with super powers. I'd trust my kid with a Pokemon before I trusted it with any other human. Give my kid a sentient creature that genuinely cares for my kid, that can kick anyone's a** that tries to ******** with his friend, and they can go anywhere their heart desired.

So long as that little monster got my kid back home by meal times. If they don't have my kid back by the time I tell them to, I'll send them to Professor Oak.
