Exam season is no excuse for Gaia's staff to get slack at all.
Even if the majority of staff ARE probably in the states, there are at least some outside of them. So there SHOULD be staff on here at all hours of the day, even if some times of day there are less than other times.

What really needs some moderation is the General Discussion.
I am (supposidly) a regular, and boy, do they need to moderate. The other day There was a post with nudity, (otherwise something that will scar you, for a long time), and ever time I go there I see some kind of spam. Things that do not belong. People Making Bump threads, Rate my Avatar threads... It is disappointing

WOW.
Just WOW, Gaia.
I've been walking around with the same sig for a little over three months now, and NOW you decide it's too big? Oh, but your Valentine's day sigs aren't? And they're bigger than what I had up?

Yeah. Good going, Gaia. Real slick. *claps hands* Really, you're wonderful.

I don't think mods bother sigs unless someone actually reports it.
I also remember seeing a post that you could put the V-Day image in your sig at full size and a mod wouldn't be allowed to touch it because Gaia made it that way. ninja

Yeah, EXACTLY!

Mods don't give a s**t, unless its reported.

Because that is their job, to deal with reports...

Seriously, they won't even bother with a thread that is in the wrong place, unless its reported.

They won't bother with hackings, unless its reported.

They won't bother with abuse, unless its reported.

It has to be official, to be dealt with.

Well they follow those guidelines now because let's face it, moderators abusing power is still a problem, but is less than it would be if mods just did things willy nilly without a user reporting that they have a problem with something. Of course, now they use users who are sympathetic to their cause, (not naming any names) but this is why the thread was CB'ed the second time.

But there's also another problem with them not touching anything unless they get a report. People who are worthy enough to be reported get away because no one reported them. Then they go along and do the same thing again....and again and again. Because no one reported them.

Worst case scenario:
I remember being a thread, where the OP was fulla blatant flaming. So bad, that I lost my cool and flamed right back alongside a bunch of other people. Apparently no one remember to report the OP for flaming. So, guess what, I suppose someone else in the thread reported my post and a mod comes and gives me a warning. I'm not done yet, I go back to the thread, and it's still there with people flaming back and forth. This is in SF by the way. Mind you, my post was like three posts under the OP. And these weren't those tl;dr posts I'm used to making. These posts were very short. Three-five lines max. So I'm like, "Did you go check the thread to see why I was flaming or are you just following reports like a puppy that's slowly going blind?" Guess what the mod tells me in a reply after a few minutes, "Oh, yeah, I don't know why that thread's still there. It's full of blatant flaming." No apology or nothing, but that's besides the point. rofl Hello? You're a mod.

How the hell do you only notice one post of flaming in a thread full of the s**t? No one reported the thread. That therin is the problem. We can easily fix this problem by having mods quickly skim threads for other problems or something by...oh yeah, getting more mods out there. Sorry if I sound so sarcastic and rude. That incident still annoys me.

I noticed that most mods aren't active in the forums they don't assign themselves to. Even if there is a mod or two on at every hour of the day, I doubt they handle reports from forums like GD or ED if they only assigned themselves to AMC, Guilds and the like.

I know of one or two mods in New Zealand/Australia. (I am from NZ) And they work during the day I'm sure.

I hate how they don't even BOTHER to properly look into it when it's a nack/scam accusation. Like someone gets a presentt, and apparently, it's hacked. In fact, half of the time, the items aren't even hacked!! I gave my friend a yama no tamago. ((He loves katana)) I BOUGHT IT from the marketplace. I then later sent it on to my friend, who later got banned for having a hacked item. BIG SURPRISE though, they didn't ban me, who according to them, had the hacked item in the first place. Guilds? Corrupt. Another firend of mine had a guild, yes, it was riske, but it was pg thirteen. He went out to get some groceries for a couple of hours. He comes back, and all of a sudden, his account was banned. Mods story- Someone went into your guild and posted a lot of porn, and it's YOUR responsibility to stop that. Apparently, that didn't even happen. Simply a mod that didn't like him was looking for an excuse to lock his guild and man him. ((He got another mod to look into it, there was no sign of porn or anything even ever posted like that in the guild)) Of course, she ook this to the other mods, but was threatened to have her mod-ness taken from her if she ever brought it up again. -Hate !!

I didn't quite fathom the nonexistence of mods until I entered the Lifestyles forum.

First off, not digging the rainbow wall of text. Please refrain from using it, as it's a major eyesore.

Secondly, yes. The mods are EXTREMELY corrupt, IMHO. They can say whatever they want to to get you banned, and use fear mongering tactics to keep users in line. If you get a mod cross, be in for a world of hurt, because they can (and it looks like a lot of the time, WILL) ban you for nothing, then stall the appeal process to make sure you never get your account back. Stalking is another one of their bad habits, watching you until you slip up for a chance to get you. They can harass you all they want, and you can't do anything back because they'll ban you for harassment of them.

I find it disheartening that there's nothing you can do against them, as they have all the power. -__-

They don't respond to reports, either though. Or if they do, they don't inform the reporter of what's going on and if the issue is being dealt with. A friend of mine got his account "hacked" a week ago, sent a report, but has yet to even have heard a word from them. I sent a report because a girl was harassing me on my profile, threatening to beat me and hack me, but I never got a response.
Maybe they only respond to reports from threads...But I'd at least like a response, even if its "There's nothing we can do." or something. At least to know that my report got through or was seen. ~~;
