LadySorcha Goddess, I wish I had enough space in my apartment to have a desk-sized altar... *sigh*daydreams* Anyhoo, I conquer with everything everyone had said, but I wanted to add one more point: an altar is the place (or one of the places) where you go to commune with the Gods. This in mind, there are a lot of things to consider: placement of the altar itself, what will go on the altar, the altars orientation to your spell-space, etc. I don't tell you this to overwhelm you, rather, I tell you to inspire you. Building an altar is a great opportunity for to add personal expression to your communication with the Divine. There is so much that can be done, and really, it's all up to you.
meee too. and a place where my two year old couldn't get to it. right now my altar is the top of my cardboard box bookshelves that are on top of my end table next too my couch. i've got all my pagan and fantasy books there and my book of shadows on top with some rose petals, candals and my dagger. i dare not put anything else up there or it may all topple off.... lol
