Smash is in a very fine mood, today, after doing so well at the log-smashing booth. She wonders if her luck will hold out for a second round at the egg cracking one? This one, admittedly, requires a bit more finesse, but, well, she's not going to let that hold her back. So, she approaches confidently, with a small grin, her blue eyes flashing a bit as if in challenge.
"One egg, please!"
Oh yes. She has a very good feeling about this.
She picks up the egg, and cracks it over the banana leaf, just as she remembers the buck doing earlier. The egg splits in half cleanly, falling perfectly on the leaf with a little sizzle, and as she discards the shell, the doe can't help but give a grin of triumph. Look at that perfect yolk. Victory does indeed taste delicious, she thinks, and she quickly finishes her egg and takes the offered tokens, as well.
"Why -- thank you very much! I do think I shall be back again. These eggs really are quite satisfying."

Westward Bound felt a little intrusive here - like most kin who spent a lot of time in the swamp, he was well aware that Rise and Shine kept their secrets closely-guarded. At least when it came to food preparation, anyway.
In all honesty, though, this trick they were doing wasn't really something he could reproduce en masse, especially considering it was all of Westfen he'd have needed to feed. Eggs were a delicacy (or at least reserved as reward for the hunters or gatherers who found them - they did generally deal more with songbird eggs, which were much smaller, and much less filling than even these). Although he was certain they were tasty, or Rise and Shine wouldn't have bothered. What was the best way to eat them? Off the rocks, while they were still hot? After they'd blackened?
Lost in thought, he was pretty surprised when it turned out that it was his turn. "Ah," he said, a little uncomfortable. But he took a chicken egg and smashed it anyway, clearing the shell away as deftly as he could manage. That looked, um, fine.

Pull's face lit up in a very un-Totoma-esque fashion. "Oh yes! They get right mad if you're disrespectful, they most definitely can peck hard. That's why you gotta be gentle and good to them. When you're good to them and they get used to it, like our sweet hens, they'll let us have the eggs no problem." He leaned towards a chicken in repose, and nuzzled it - he got a reprimanding peck on his faceplates in return. "It also helps to be a Totoma, I gotta admit!"
My Very Best was feeling quite proud of how much traffic has happening, and how much kin seemed to enjoy their little game and food. In this moment, he could see why his father was so invested in the tribe he'd built from scratch, especially as their own extended 'family' dropped by (with varying degrees of success). Spirits lifted, he felt a little bolder.
He watched the well-adorned buck come by twice before reaching out to him. "You seem to enjoy the eggs, good sir! Once this market is over, you can still get your fill at our store, down by the salt marshes. Just bring something to trade." He offered a sliver of preserved meat to the buck, placing it on the nearest stone.
As that brilliant flash of pink scuttled away, he called behind her "You really are getting better, miss! We'd love to see you at our store!"

Fish Bones wanders up to the booth, watching the buck demonstrate how to crack the egg. Eggs being his favorite food how can he resist giving this a try? "Good morning. Eggs are the best way to start the day, yes?" he gives the bucks a smile.
When it's his turn to try, Fish Bones takes a moment to select just the right egg, not too big or small. With the egg gently, but firmly, between his teeth he gives it a tap on the stone, plopping it onto the leaf.
Pulling out the largest chunks of shell he inspects his handywork. A bit messy, and some shell left in the whites. But the yolk is intact, pretty good for his first try.
"Thank you." he says, collecting his tokens and egg, looking very pleased with himself - more for the egg then the tokens - as he trots off to find a spot to eat.
((Maxx & Jun, better bet he'll be back. <3 Might even offer some baskets to trade for eggs.))

Feather yawned softly as he trodded into the clearing, shaking his head to clear it of sleep. He'd decided to get an early start today in case the festival took more time than planned, but he was regretting the early rise. The scent of cooking food reached his nose and he inhaled deeply, following the scent to a booth lined with fat little birds in the back. Chickens? He glanced down at the hot stone and raised his brows. Oh, so you had to crack an egg? And you got to eat it? That sounded easy enough.
After watching the demonstration he carefully took an egg in his mouth and cracked it, watching it drop onto one of the banana leaves with a satisfying sizzle. There weren't any pieces of shell in it, and the yolk was perfectly round and golden. He smiled eagerly, scooping it up and eating it once it was done. The texture was strange compared to other things he'd eaten, but the flavor was rich and satisfying. "It was delicious, thank you." He collected his three tokens and moved on, belly full and ready to start the day.

There was pep in her step when More Love came back to the egg-cracking booth. Now that she'd learned the trick of opening eggs without ending up with a mouthful of runny gunk, she was more excited than ever about finding the little delicacies. Perhaps, she thought, just perhaps, this would be a way to keep a certain kin close. If she could entice him with warm, flavorful food, well. She'd be silly not to give it a shot, wouldn't she?
But if she wanted to make sure she didn't disgust or disappoint him, she was going to work hard at mastering this discipline. The booth and the buck who had so charmingly demonstrated the technique were her new personal favorites, and she beamed when she saw Best again. "This could become a habit," she bubbled at him as she selected her egg and arranged the banana leaf just so. Of course, if she wanted to make sure she was truly prepared, she was going to have to convince a salamander to be her new best friend so she could always have warm rocks at hand. Ah well, something to look into later. Of course, she'd have to figure out exactly what salamanders liked to eat. Or where they liked to live. Or.
The egg cracked too quickly this time, and More Love saw tiny bits of shell speckle the surface as the insides plopped out to sizzle on the stone. Drat! That was what happened when she wasn't paying attention and let her mind wander. She sighed, a little disappointed, but smiled all the same. "I guess they can't be perfect all the time, can they? It's the taste that counts. Always the taste." All right, and the texture she amended silently, having slurped up her somewhat crunchy egg.
She could always try again.
