So that smoking thing? Good? Bad? Indifferent?
  Tobacco is ok
  Weed is ok
  They're both ok
  They're both wrong
  Either in moderation
Does it even matter if it is?

Drinking wine was very common in the bible. After all Jesus' first miracle was that he turned water in to wine. But the bible states that anything done is excess is never good.

If your goal when drinking is to get sick drunk out of your mind that you wake up with no memory and you can't figure out why you have drawings all over your face and you are next to a complete stranger then yes, that is a sin. (lol)

And regardless of whether you are Christian or not, smoking and drugs have proven to do more harm than anything.

The human body is something sacred to the Lord. By drinking excessively and smoking (be it cigarettes or weed or whatever) and substance abuse you are destroying your body little by little.

EFFECTS OF ALCOHOL: Because it reduces inhibitions, drinking alcohol may make you act in a way that would embarrass you under normal circumstances. It can also make you do dangerous things that you wouldn’t normally do. Drinking too much (binge drinking) can cause alcohol poisoning, which can lead to coma and even death. Alcohol use increases the risks of liver damage, mouth, throat, esophagus and larynx cancer and heart disease.

EFFECTS OF WEED: Pot affects a user’s judgment, motor coordination, and short-term memory. Weed can cause increased heart rate and make some users extremely anxious or paranoid. Smoking marijuana also causes some changes in the brain similar to those caused by long-term use of cocaine and heroin.

Research found that students with an average grade of “D” or below were more than four times as likely to have used marijuana in the past year as students who reported an average grade of “A.”44 Students who have smoked marijuana within the past year are more than twice as likely to have cut class than those who did not smoke, while health problems associated with using marijuana can keep students from attending school due to illness.

Regular marijuana users often have shortened attention spans, decreased energy and ambition, poor judgment, high distractibility, and impaired ability to communicate and relate to others. Young people who use marijuana weekly have double the risk of depression later in life.

Can you become addicted to marijuana? Actually, yes. More teens are in treatment with a primary diagnosis of marijuana dependence than for all other illicit drugs combined.

EFFECTS OF SMOKING: Smoking is the most common cause of lung cancer. Smoking is also a leading cause of cancer of the mouth, throat, bladder, pancreas and kidney.Smoking can affect your appearance and lifestyle. Toxins can dry out your skin and cause premature wrinkles.80 Playing sports can be difficult since smoking causes shortness of breath and dizziness.

Smoking can kill you. Smoking is the leading preventable cause of death in the United States. More than 440,000 Americans die from tobacco-related causes each year. Smoking puts your friends and family at risk. Each year approximately 3,000 non-smokers die of lung cancer from second-hand smoke.

If you think about it. This kind of substance abuse is just a VERY SLOW form of suicide. And yea....suicide isn't a God thing ^^;;;;;

Smoking in itself is not a sin, it is only a sin when smoking becomes an idol. Unfortunately, because it is addictive it can become an idol very easily, so it's best not to do it at all. Also, God wants us to take care of our bodies and by smoking you are not really taking care of it.

"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s." (1 Cor. 6:19-20)

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" (Rom. 12:1-2).
The only sacrifice that was acceptable to God was one without spot or blemish. How can we present ourselves as a sacrifice that is holy, meaning separated from sin, if we are addicted to tobacco and destroying our health.

Some people refuse to admit that smoking is harmful to one's health. Even if smoking did not harm people's health, it certainly harms a Christian's testimony!
1 Thessalonians 5:22 tell us to "Abstain from all appearance of evil." God is saying that we are to abstain not from only evil itself but even from that which would appear to be evil. Barnes says, "There are many things which, in themselves, may not appear to us to be positively wrong, but which are so considered by large and respectable portions of the community; and for us to do them would be regarded as inconsistent and improper." (Barnes New Testament Notes, 1 Thess. 5:22). It is sinful to let our pleasures stand in the way of our testimony and let our indulgences be a stumbling block to others.
