Where was Maple? Well, lost apparently. And a bit scared and confused because when she came to - like really suddenly, the jolting awake and in a panic kind - she was somewhere else. Somewhere really strange that she didn't know. And it was loud. This was totally not like any parties she had ever attended. And she honestly had no idea what to do.

And she felt weird. Her head felt funny, lighter and one brief feel upward let her know her horns were gone (honestly, that would be a great feeling otherwise, but not this time... this was unsettling). And looking down she noticed she was in a totally different outfit. And not something she would normally wear. [Yeah, I went there.]

Oh, someone handed her a sparkler. And a drink. Maple made a small defeated little noise as she just sort of held them.

Worse yet, she hadn't seen who else had taken those pop rock things - if that was really the cause of all this, because that seemed like the logical thing. She had taken the pop rocks and.. well, this happened. So, Maple honestly had no idea who else was here and if her missing horns were any indication, they probably didn't look like themselves either.

"Are you a shooting star?" A very tall, very inebriated young man leaned down to rest his head on Maple's shoulder, blinking his eyes slowly at her. "Because you look like you fell down from heaven. Maybe that's why you're so quiet, still reeling from the fall, huh?"

He put both of his hands on her hips and started to shake her violently.

"Let's get you moving!!!!"

"RUNNING OUT OF NAPS? SAY NOW, GET OUT OF THE WAY LADIES, MOMMA'S COMING IN FOR A LANDING!" The ruse worked, sending the woman shambling in the direction that Mimsy pointed towards, looking for the brand new concoction known as naps.

What? Maple jerked backwards as far as she could possibly muster when suddenly... someone was with her, resting his head on her shoulder?! What was going on? His breath was atrocious, he was so close! Of course her face heated up in an instant even with the face she made. Urg, she couldn't pull away! She was trapped!

(Was that a pick up line? Oh Hecate, that was a pick up line, wasn't it! QQ)

"P-please.... st-stop..." Maple tried to push him away from her, but it was difficult with her hands full and his own on her.

There was... what? Was that AJ? He said he was AJ but where was bro? Did they split up?

Carlos was glad to not be alone though and let his eyes lowered a bit relaxing up until something horrible happened. Some woman invaded his personal space in a strange grind. He let himself fall limp against Mimsy head tilting into a rag doll like state.

How could anyone know not know what a nap was? Did they not know what naps where?

Mimsy saved the day by tricking the ghoul. He chuckled. "Quiet excellent. What is in a name? A rose is a rose by any other name."

He waved the sparkler around hoping to no attract anymore attention. Also these finger things were interesting.

oh there was a boil hitting on another ghoul. shooting starts he liked the sound of that. "Shooting star." he played with the worlds.

"What's that, honey?" The man tried to lean in closer. "I can't hear you, is your voice all over-used from screaming? Speak up, speak up!" She pushed him away, and he laughingly complied, choosing instead to shimmy lightly in a dance while waiting for her to speak up.

"SAY, I COULDN'T FIND ANY NAPS!" The old woman was back, and she was flopping against Carlos now, placing too much weight on what Mimsy had to carry. "Share yours with me, buddy!"

"No no no." Carlos still wore a twisted grin, but clearly was not at all liking the attention. Normally it was time to show his claws but he didn't have any.

Instead he waved his sparkler at the woman. "Ackamarackus flummery phonus-bolonus bunk." his foot with the shoe still attached pawed at the woman in a terrible attempt to scratch her.

He was too distressed to even attempt riddles. Just keep this ghoul away. He did not like her.

With a heavy sigh of relief, Mimsy watched the woman disappear into the crowd. She smiled anxiously as her attention returned to the students, and tried to maintain the appearance of cheerfulness.

"Shooting stars are meteors or meteorites, which illuminate when they combust upon entering the atmosphere. They can be many colors, depending on their content!" It was human knowledge, but she couldn't help herself. This was her field of study, albeit some of the most simple portions of it. "Meteor comes from a Greek word, meteōros, which means 'suspended in the air'. They do fall, though! So...not quite right!"

She laughed, but the laugh came to an abrupt stop. The woman was back, and was touching her Cheshire.

"He has run out!" Horrified, she tried to pull away from her. "Did you even try the secret code word? You are missing out! Naps are very exclusive, and well worth it!"

As she tried to rectify this disturbing problem, she protectively curled her arm over Carlos' back, fingertips barely petting his hair in an attempt to be soothing.

Mimsy said the secret word, which was secret word. The woman seemed stunned, her eyes widening as she tried to figure it out, until they veered suspiciously at the boy clinging to the girl.

"Say, all that nap business aside, you guys should try to have a little more fun.. you seem tense."

As if to further her suspicions, Mimsy flickered at that very unfortunate moment, and the woman stilled and quietly started to back away. The crowd around her merged, as if consuming her as it blocked her from their vision.

Maple's eyes closed when he leaned in close and she tried not to inhale, least to breathe in that smell coming off his breath again. She could gather what it might be, having been around it and it tempted her to set down her own drink. But she was so tense that her hands would just not let go. (Apparently he didn't seem at all disturbed by her having that sparkler).

He let go over her though, her actions actually managing to work. Didn't seem like he was going to go away, not when she actually opened her eyes and realized he was still there. Dancing. Maple didn't speak up though, only just make a sad little groaning noise and darted her eyes around. If she wanted to get away, she had no idea where to given where they were and how she had no idea where the others were. If there were others.

(Oh, please don't let this be their homework, she was doing so terribly).

Carlos did listen to Mimsy's commentary about shooting stars. it was very fascinating.

Words like: meteors or meteorites, illuminate, combust meteōros, and 'suspended in the air.' He could think of a good riddle with that, but he never got the chance, that woman had interrupted them.

Mimsy did a good job of keeping her away from him. The woman put him off his tea so much. It was a good thing he didn't have any.

Tense? No he was Mad. Very mad. Mad as a Cheshire cat. The petting helped calm him down though.

But he did notice what the woman had, it was hard not too. Was Mimsy ok?
"Flickering flack flock?" Carlos was too lazy to fully from the riddle to his question. but he wanted to know if she was ok. He leaned up and licked Mimsy's cheek.

The man slowed down, and stared.

"You're not dancing."

He looked disgusted. "Why aren't you dancing??"

The woman had disappeared, but it was clear she hadn't left without suspicion. Not two moments later, the crowd parted enough to allow two very large, very patriotically clothed men surge forward to the entire group. Each man had an eagle perched on their shoulder, and very wild looks in their eyes.

It was probably time to run.

Most of this world was very strange, but hearing that she seemed tense was pretty typical as far as Mimsy was concerned, so she failed to recognize the woman's suspicion of them. She scrunched up her nose and gave her an unsettled look as she walked away, but that was the extent of her reaction - until she glanced back down towards Carlos again, and found that she was flickering.

"Oh," she murmured, brow furrowed. "Er, it's all right! Keeping my temper! A tweak here, a twinge there!"

She nervously laughed, calming enough to smile down at him after he licked her cheek, and pet his hair in return. The reprieve from harassment allowed her to remind herself that they probably needed to find a way out, considering the fact that they obviously did not belong. She knew exactly how horrible it felt to not belong somewhere, so she didn't want him to stay here any longer than he had to.

"Okay! Onward to--oh," she squeaked. There were two men with eagles in front of them, and Mimsy was sorely lacking her own attack dog. Without him, there was only one viable option.

"Listen to me, very carefully." With slow, calculated movements, she slipped her feet out of the stilettos and kicked them away from her. "I will carry you when we are safe. We are not currently safe. So, as you can see, I will have to put you down..."

She did, as much as it pained her to do so, and did an awful job of hiding it from her expression.

"...and we will run."

Petro frowned at the other boil telling him that removing clothing wasn't normal. Wearing clothing wasn't normal and if the creeple here were allowed minimal dress, why the Jack wasn't he? "Fine, fine, if y' think that'd keep the group safe," he muttered.

Somehow, despite conceding to not removing his clothes, two individuals with all the menace and authority of enforcers approached them. He was too far away to hear the rather intelligent suggestion to run from the flickering ghoul, and instead remained where he was.

"'S something wrong?" he asked, refusing to be intimidated.
