Got a really funny story for you, straight from work last night. Corporal Goggins picked us up from our shifts and drove us back to the office. When we got back, we discovered off-duty officer Herman's car in one of the Public Safety vehicle spaces, so Goggins decided to play a prank, since one of our Public Safety Officers, PSO Williams, was in the office. The conversation went something like this:
"29 to 07"
"07, go ahead."
"I need you to run a plate check for me."
"Okay, give me the number."
"PA plate... number is (whatever the number was)"
"Standby... okay, I have the information. Ha ha ha."
"...10-9? (Repeat last transmission)"
"I have the information. Are you serious?"
"Yeah... why?"
"It's one of ours"
"One of our [patrol] vehicles?"
"No, it belongs to one of our officers."
"Oh... well, it's in the creek."
"Really?"
"Yeah, it looks like somebody drove it off of the creek crossing and bailed... all the doors are open, there's water all over."
"10-4. I'm 10-76 (en route) directly."
At this point, we all took cover behind some of the cars in the parking lot as Williams drove away in the patrol vehicle. Needless to say, he didn't find a car in the creek. What a way to end an 11-hour shift.
