Purgatoriah Rissaness ...Please pass the ice cream. I'm having a horrible time coming out with my parents... They either don't believe me when I say I'm lesbian, or they say that being gay has been "proven" to be a "mental illness"
I call B.S.
Now they say if I were lesbian, I'd need therapy. ;-;
I'm so confused I don't know what to do... They can't change who and what I am.. It feels like they're rejecting how I feel. :/ Honestly, I would say the best cure for ignorance is time. And evidence. Lots and lots of evidence. I had a terrible experience as a child because of my parents, and I never want anybody else to experience the same. However, therapy is not actually a bad idea. They may think it is a thing to "Help" with your being lesbian. But it can help you deal with your parents, and help you teach them the error of their ways. Therapy has helped me a ton over the years. I hope you don't reject that cuz of the way that they think it should be used.
Sorry this is such a late reply.. Have a lot going on..
I do have a therapist, and we've discussed my .. preferences. He's quite supportive. My parents? Not so much.
