*Threadmaster's Note:* I have fixed this thread so we can just make this an ongoing, "drop in and post when you feel like it", sort of Barton RP. This is completely informal and we have no idea where it will take us. Just have fun and be Bartobs!
*panting*
Must...learn...tele...port...crystal.......
By the time Cel reached her room, she was wheezing and about ready to fall over. But there was no time for that. She'd have to pass out later. Not really thinking, she started to get out of her everyday attire. It took her a minute to realize someone was whistling at her. She turned around and realized to her horror she had left the curtains open. A bunch of guys from town that had shown up early were all grinning and admiring her ruffly delicates.
Oh! How rude!
Cel quickly raced over to the curtains and threw them closed. Her face was red as a beet with embarrassment.
Ok Cel, just forget about that. Ignore them at the dance. Besides, if they start anything, Caelen can sort them out in a flash.
That was a comforting thought, Caelen racing to defend his lady.
Cel quickly finished undressing and used the Rinse n' Dry crystal to get cleaned up. It was certainly much faster than a shower, but the room did look like a tornado had blown through once the wind had died down.
Oh dear, I'll have to deal with this mess later.
Cel just shrugged as she slipped into her favorite black and cobalt blue dress. She left her hair down, using the curling iron to make delicate curls that hung perfectly to one side. Sparkly black pumps and a black lace facintor with silver star accents finished off the look.
Alright! Time to go have fun! But, I had better go see if Caelen is ready yet.
Nodding confidently one last time to her reflection in the full length mirror, Cel skipped happily out of her room and went looking for Caelen.

Inei stopped mid-way to the manor, arguing with the other voices that danced in her head. "Ahh, it sucks being a ghost. I hope no one's watching...I mean, I'm floating and all that, and exorcisms hurt when I get caught! I know, right? Wait, what? I just talked to myself again..." She hovered over a bench, kicking the air with her legs. I can wait a while...I mean, I have ghost powers! But I can't control them too well...meh. Inei, who was rather bored, decided to grab a pair of scissors and play with them.

The lights flickered in the hallway when the explosion came. The force of it nearly knocked Cel off her pumps. It was enough to make her lose some balance and bump into the wall to her right.
The heck was that?
Then she heard Ren, the resident neko girl, yelling something about her crazy experiments.
*sigh*
I should have known. That crazy neko. If she doesn't learn to control her concoctions better, this whole place is going to end up in orbit. I hope nothing outside of her lab got broken.
As Cel was in the middle of talking aloud to herself, Caelen came hurriedly down the third floor stairwell. The look on his face was grim. Cel spotted him, saw the look on his face, and just shrugged. He came over to Cel and stood beside her, discreetly checking for any sign of injury. Caelen spoke as he assessed.
Let me guess, a certain neko with access to unstable chemicals and regents?
Caelen had it nailed from the start. He was no fan of the wacky, and at times very disastrous, experiments that Ren loved so much.
Yep. Ren. Did anything on third floor get broken? I hope we don't have to deal with this all through the dance. It wouldn't be good for BFAA's image to have intermittent explosions while we have so many guests in the manor.
In truth, Cae had mostly been worried about Cel. Now that he saw she was alright, he let some of his annoyance dissipate. He casually draped his arm around Cel's shoulders, lightly stroking her arm.
No, everything on third floor is fine. I'll do a quick check of second before I head down to the main floor. I think I should have a word with our neko friend about these experiments.
Nodding in agreement, Cel decided Cae could handle Ren.
Ok. Don't take too long. This thing starts in about 20 minutes and we need to be at the door to greet the guests. I had better go see if Kags needs any last minute help with arranging the refreshments.
She gently kissed Caelen's cheek and headed down the grand staircase and off to the kitchen once more.

Chef was just making his way to the main hall when an explosion rattled him. He tapped into his earpiece to get a hold of the security center. "What the HELL was that!?" he barked. Before anyone could answer, a familiar voice echoed from the main hall. Chef made his way to the main hall and found Ren, or what appeared to be Ren. He flashed a smirk when she explained that those stupid steaks were burned in the process of... whatever it was she was doing down there.
"False alarm, team," Chef said into his earpiece. "It was just Ren, down in the basement, doing... Hey, what were you doing, anyway?" he asked, turning to Ren. "And what did you need my steaks for? I mean... I hate those damn steaks and they were pretty cheap, but I still paid good money for them!"

On passing through the main hall to the kitchen, Cel caught a tidbit of the conversation Chef was having with Ren. Cel hid a tiny giggle at the mention of Chef's steaks being blown to smithereens and continued on to the kitchen. Upon entering, Kags appeared to be loading some rather tasty looking treats onto a cart to haul out to the tables set up in the Grand Ballroom.
I like your way of thinking. Don't set stuff out until just a few minutes before so that no one can pilfer snacks. Could you use any help?

Everything appeared to be in order on second floor. The earlier explosion had only shifted a few lamps slightly. Caelen was checking through the East Library to make sure everything was secure. Picking up a stray book that had fallen off one of the shelves and replacing it in its spot, Cae was satisfied with the state of things.
He exited the room, closing the door behind him. He began making his way to the main hall, but stopped suddenly. Something was a bit off. There was a presence around the manor, but Caelen could not quite pin it down.
He was stopped right in front of a large window that gave a good view of the manor grounds. Peering out into the darkness, Cae's demonic enhanced night vision kicked in as he scanned the grounds for something out of place. Cae scanned for what seemed an eternity, but was really only about two minutes. On the verge of giving up and thinking himself possibly crazy, one shape finally stood out in the farthest corners of the manor grounds. A slight figure, no doubt a woman, was hidden in the shadows, gazing at the manor. She seemed vaguely familiar.
Perhaps I shall take a quick n** outside to investigate this mystery guest Caelen said quietly to himself.
Eyes glowing an eerie red, Caelen did something most people had never seen him do. Bending the laws of physics, he passed through the window as if it had been nothing but air. He landed without a sound on the grass outside and stealthily made his way toward the figure in the shadows.
