"I want to hide the truth,
I want to shelter you,
But with the beast inside,
there's nowhere we can hide."

Alistair's eyes widened in shocked as he watched the newcomer step inside and take a sheet on the couch. The man was huge and quite frankly, pretty scary. To this, the teen couldn't help the fact that yet another lump was forming his throat and he had to force himself to swallow it back down. Each person that stepped into Miss Nightingale's house only seemed to be getting stranger by the second. But then again, he wasn't really one to talk...

But bringing him back from his thoughts to reality was the large man's voice, who had introduced himself as Abdi asking if he and the others would introduce themselves as well. It would be the second time today, but Alistair didn't want to be rude so he really had not choice... "... Alistair Zakarius, sir." the male replied, his gaze lowering like before.

'Man, can you be any more pathetic? Man up, or do I have to come out myself?!' Striker's voice rang through his mind once more, even more furious than before and Alistair couldn't help but tightly shut his eyes in fear. 'N-No, stop it! Not with everyone here!' he shot back.

'Then get your s**t together, ya' idiot!'

"When you feel my heat,
look into my eyes,
Don't get too close,
it's dark inside.
It's where my demons hide."

ABDI'KARIM GHEDI

Martian Manhunter

"I'm not my predecessor..."

Damn, Abdi had made a mistake. Cursing his own ineptitude for harming his social skills, the diminished Martian tried a different approach with this self-proclaimed Speedster. "Excuse me, Mr. Allen, you have mistaken my words for insult. I have no malicious or scornful desires when I say that Mr. Wickes is more replaceable than his ring. It's simply the truth. If need be, I will personally find a suitable replacement for Ian. However, should we lose the ring in any such way, or it becomes unusable, then Earth loses one of its most stalwart defenders. I challenge you to find a fighter more diverse and capable than a Lantern." Abdi stretched, thinking back on his mad race to reach Metropolis. It was in Colorado, when he was about 1/3 of the way there, he had collided with a vulture at top speed, and the remains of the poor creature had splattered sickeningly over his solid frame, freezing almost instantly from the cold altitude he had subsequently ascended to. Abdi, refusing to stop, had literally scraped the iced blood off of his body while in mid-flight. A rather frigid nosedive dip in Lake Michigan had fixed the smell, no doubt scaring the living hell out of anyone fishing in the area as well.
"It is a pleasure to meet you regardless, Mr. Allen. I'm sure your abilities will benefit your chosen area."

"If you get in my way, I'll simply kill you."

With: Abdi, Taliana, Alistair and Darius.

Ian kept himself to himself, still reeling from embarrassment that he could even say such a stupid line. I don’t have many first dates, he thought cursing under his breathe at himself and the damn ring on his finger. Nice one Ian, nice one. He supposed it wasn’t too bad, he could have said a lot worse when it came to Taliana. It was more embarrassing though that he even considered he had a chance with someone quite as lovely as Taliana though; she was beautiful and talented and to top it all off she was pretty kick a** too. Then, there was Ian, shy and awkward, self-deprecating and pathetic, and a newly discovered incompetent. In all aspects, Ian was and forever would be completely out of Taliana’s league. Hell, they didn’t even play the same sport. She was up there the equivalent to professional football and if anything, Ian was the equivalent to a county chess champion. Sat at a table peering at a wooden board through bottle top glasses whilst Taliana had a packed to capacity stadium calling her name.

So, it could have been worse, Ian could have actually thought he had some sort of chance.

At first waiting for Taliana’s reaction, Ian didn’t pay much mind to what Abdi was saying really. In his mind there was nothing much the man could say to return what little dignity he had and now thrown away to him, he was more concerned about what Taliana would say and whether or not she would take the hammer to the final nail of his ego’s coffin in some sort of quick but witty rebuttal. However, as Abdi closed his first statement about how Ian was somewhat more replaceable than his ring, he couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow and think for a second.

It seemed a little harsh at first and Ian did in fact want to reply, probably as a result of Hal Jordan seemingly bleeding through his ring and making his way round Ian’s bloodstream; he wanted to say something smart, something about the fact that the ring was the one to choose him not the other way around but instead, Darius, someone he’d only really known for a couple of seconds decided to step in and defend him. Something Ian was actually rather grateful for. It even half iterated what Ian would have said in his own response. But there was still something nagging at him, an urge to speak up for himself that wouldn’t go away like it used to. The ring. Ian always blamed the ring. So maybe, Abdi was right. The ring was a powerful weapon, versatile, limitless in potential and needed as the Guardians had told in far away on Oa.

The again, the rings chose their wielders. No force in the universe had forced it onto his finger, just a split decision and a car crash.

Listening to the rest of what Abdi had to say, Ian prepared what he was going to say in his mind, twiddling his ring as he did so and waiting patiently for his opportunity to speak. He may have been annoyed but that was no excuse to be rude.
“I hear Martians are pretty good,” Ian finally said “What? Did you expect to show off the fact you could fly at Mach speed, use telepathy and edit your physiology and the guy wearing a Galactic Encyclopaedia on his finger not to figure it out, I suppose you wouldn’t seeing as I may not exist, huh?” Ian’s words, uncharacteristically, cut like a sword. Punctuating themselves through his tone rather than needing him to act in a certainw ay to display his mood. He was most certainly agitated by what Abdi had said but he wasn’t even done yet, not by a long shot…

“No one person should have the power some of us do,” he continued “But we do and this ring chose me, I never asked for it. I wanted a quiet life. I wanted normal and whereas I’m not naïve enough to turn around to you right here, right now and say that Earth doesn’t need heroes; I certainly wouldn’t have picked myself to be one.“ Ian looked around and then down at his ring, slightly fearful of what it was he planned to do next. “But my life isn’t my own anymore, Destiny forced this ring on me and that’s something I have to live with. If you don’t like it, here, take it.”

Sliding it off his finger quickly, knowing he’d back out due to the pain if he did so slowly, Ian took the ring with his thumb and forefinger and flicked it towards Abdi rather nonchalantly. Even though his body was a mess, covered in welts and bruises and cuts reopening as they hadn’t quite finished healing, Ian just took the pain. He wasn’t afraid and to be honest, he didn’t even really care; he just let the numbness envelope his body. A body that had now been bruised and beaten and broken many a time in order to do the right thing and save people. A body that now knew bravery…

The ring travelled through the air for a second before it stopped itself dead, glowed brightly and seemed to peer side to side before whisking itself back onto Ian’s finger.

“Ian Wickes of Earth, you have shown the ability to overcome great fear. Welcome to the Green Lantern Corps.”

User Image
Allies: Darius, Taliana, Alistair Enemies: Hostile towards Abdi. Saving: No one

The ring, flared wildly before revealing Ian, stood in all his glory as the Green Lantern of Sector 2814, mask on and aura pulsing with a will to prove people wrong, a will to want to live up to the legacy left to him. The will to prove if anything, he was a Green Lantern for a reason. Being slagged off was, well, becoming boring.

“Thank you for your hospitality Miss Lance but I’m afraid I’ll be taking my leave,” Ian said, bowing his head “Darius, if you’re coming with me, let’s go. The rest of you I bid adieu, a fair warning though, don’t light any candles whilst he’s around…” And with that he left, Abdi could take his comment as he would but Ian didn’t have time for that sort of stuff anymore. That Yellow Lantern was a problem, his problem and he needed to get himself into gear if he was ever going to sort it.

Is that honestly what they believed they could do in his city? He had never even heard of or seen a Green Lantern up until a couple of minutes ago, but what a sight. So much power came from tiny glowing rings, and to think that they had almost gone unnoticed because of him sleeping on a rooftop. Luckily enough he woke up just in time to see the end of their fight, and hear the sounds of what sounded like some screeching monkeys yelling in unison. The yellow male had left, but he had followed the green guy, or what was left of him anyways to a girl's house. It didn't take long for others to show up as well, and his hiding spot within the trees felt great. A lot of shade, and so long as he kept his hand over the red symbol on his tank top, there was no color coming from his area at all. Superhuman Hearing and X-Ray Vision made him the perfect spy, and while he could have done the same thing from multiple buildings away, something about being close made everything fun.

Quite the group of individuals were appearing one after the other, each displaying or carrying different kinds of objects. One male held a sword, another had some type of super speed, and the eldest of the visitors was displaying quite the set of abilities. He had seen him fly in, and then shapeshift into a shorter version of himself! However, what really shocked him was the Green Lantern who revealed his name. It was Ian! "Ia-!" exclaimed Michael before covering his mouth with his hands. Normal humans would have called him out if they got a good look at him for stalking, or something far worse, but that couldn't be any further from the truth of what he was doing. He was investigating! Staking out the area, gathering Intel, and all for personal use. Sometime after hearing Ian reveal himself as Green Lantern, Mike ceased his eavesdropping of any aside from Ian since he no longer cared, but more so because he could now question his friend and see if the male would lie to protect his identity. Though, if there roles were reversed, he would more than likely would lie as well.

Lifting his knees to his chest, he retied the black boots on his feet before stretching widely. As it stood, he was interested in the larger male within, along with the boy with super speed. The girl was more than likely the one who had sounded like a bunch of monkey screaming at once in his highly sensitive ears, but it seemed as though he'd have a lot of possible allies, or deadly foes. Ian had begun to speak again, and before he could jump out from his tree, the last male was revealed to be a Martian, and it did not take long for a bright green light to envelop the house. Moments later, Ian or Green Lantern as he now appeared, was shooting through the air. Was he looking for trouble? No matter what he was looking for, Mike would make sure Ian found him first. Lifting out of the tree and into the air, he took to the skies following behind the Lantern to his destination.

Darius was about to say something back to Abdi and his unintentionally smart a** comment. But then Ian spoke up which kinda stunned Darius a little. He an Ian hadn't known each other long, but he already got a vibe from Ian, he wasn't the bold, daring type. That wasn't his role in the world but there he stood defending himself, just like Uncle Hal would've using wit and devious words that only his father and Hal were capable of. If Darius hadn't known Ian for the small time he did, he would've thought him a brave smart a** to talk to a man that could grow 3 times his size in a matter of seconds, in the manner he had but Ian held no fear as he took off the ring basically telling the intergalactic council and Abdi to "******** off" Darisu smiled. This was a guy that deserved to hold the ring, this was an embodiment of Hal Jordan and it seemed the ring agreed as it froze in mid air and took off for Ian's finger snapping itself back into place enveloping the area in a green light and changing Ian into his Lantern uniform "Awww snap! Don't take this literally but...BURN! Haha." Ian was already hovering as he looked at Darius asking if he would accompany him, after thanking Taliana. Darius smiled as he clicked his ring and a red suit popped out and in a flash he was in it.

User Image
He looked at Abdi as another sting was thrown at him before Darius left and he himself was already downstairs, with a ham in his hand from Taliana's fridge. "I also enjoyed your hospitality....and your Ham! Come on GL let's blow this Popsicle stand." Darius said with a bright grin. He had no friends or family in this world prior to meeting Ian and the rest, and he could see from how they had just tag teamed Abdi like that, they would be just like his father and Hal, close as ever. The Gl and Flash team was ready and raring.

Martian Manhunter

"I'm not my predecessor..."

Well... s**t. This situation was just getting better and better, wasn't it? As the boy mentioned his less-than-earthly origins, Abdi's face remained as stoic as ever, but his mind was racing, looking for any way that this child could use the information against him. "Among a slew of other talents," Abdi said softly, catching the ring with no small measure of surprise, nearly dropping it in shock when the damn thing spoke. "Once again, you mistake my words for insult to your character," Abdi drawled out after a moment. "I have no doubt in your abilities as a Lantern, and no doubt in your ring's choice. It is simple fact that finding a spare Green Lantern is a less daunting task, and less detrimental to Earth, than trying to find a spare Lantern ring."

Abdi, no doubt recognizing that the situation was rapidly deteriorating, stood up, offering Taliana a short bow before turning to the door. "Just remember, Mr. Wickes, I flew cross-country on a whim to help you. I hope you don't think of me as an adversary." Abdi left, shifting back into his more comfortable form once he left the door. There was nothing to do in that house, and though he seemed to naturally dislike this Lantern for some reason, he wouldn't let his petty feelings get in the way of Earth's safety. He followed Ian to Suicide Slum, simply watching him. "I'm not here to fight for you," he said to the Lantern. "Just to watch."

"If you get in my way, I'll simply kill you."

[Nightingale][Sonokinesis][Legacy Initiative]

Taliana was bewildered by the man's sudden appearance and even more surprised to learn that he was a martian. It seems Ian has definitely been around the block a few times; the number of people coming after him seemed endless. The man, unlike the speedster, had taken a more formal approach in conducting himself within her home. "Nightingale." She stated plainly. She was curious as to what the martian could want with Ian. Better yet, what did any of them want with the bartender. Realizing what a hot commodity Ian was becoming made Taliana see that she was only a piece of his large world. Not that she thought the two of them would ever work as a couple. He was so awkward, and she was a bit standoffish; two styles that really don't mix. Then again opposites do attract. Taliana was pondering the thought as Ian made a playful comment, that belied his usual timid demeanor. Her brows furrowed at first. Who was this Ian and what had happened to the nerdy original. The siren rarely heard him make a pass at her, but it was a pleasant surprise."Psh, don't flatter yourself too much tiger." Taliana playfully winked at Ian, signaling that she was kidding. Maybe these chaps could stay longer, especially if it meant bringing out Ian's wilder side.

The group continued to converse, with the introductions coming to a bump when Darius spoke out against the Martian's words. Taliana smiled to herself. The boy had beaten her to the punch. Someone had to challenge what was said, right?! Taliana's smile faded from her face as Ian donned his costume yet again. She nodded as she knew what had to be done. As a fellow hero, she respected any choices he made. That didn't mean she was going to sit idly by though. "Darius!" She shouted at the boy as he took some of her ham from her fridge. "The speedster is also a trickster...perfect." A smirk tugged at the corners of her lips. Darius definitely kept things lively. After the others left, Taliana headed to her closet to retrieve an uniform she had been working on. It was something she had been stitching together since Dinah's disappearance. It was more symbolic of her legacy. Taliana just didn't feel she was worthy though, so she tried to keep herself as far away from anything that could liken her to Black Canary as possible. After all this talk of destiny, and Ian's newfound resolve, Taliana felt it was only right that she truly accept the hand fate has dealt her. She sighed as she placed on the leather ensemble. A smile danced across her lips as she dashed out the door, using her powers to lock in on the voices of the others.

Everyone seemed to be taking their leave, including Miss Nightingale. Once outside, he shut it behind him and headed off to his next destination. He hoped he wouldn't run into any trouble during his trek, but knowing his luck it was very probable that he would anyway...

[Taliana Lance][Sonokinesis][Legacy Initiative]

The blonde beauty placed the back of her hand against her forehead as she awoke in a cold sweat. Her eyes fluttered open, darting away as the sun's warm rays gleamed through her window. "Not again..." She had woken up three times in the middle of the night screaming and freezing. Her mind seemed intent on staying awake even though her body pleaded for rest. One would assume that maybe it was because it was that time of the month; she would have probably already ended her life if her cycle was this intense all the time. Taliana rolled out of bed and shuffled towards her bathroom. A nice hot shower was just what she needed to get her day started. Taliana ran the water while she stripped herself of her night gown. The warm waters trickled across her skin as the shower head turned on. "Ah." A sigh of relief washed over her now calm state of being. Who could blame her after everything that had happened?!

There was a lot to consider now that more Legacies had arrived here in Metropolis. She was beginning to realize that the villains popping up around here were going to be difficult to fight alone. A team would be needed. Just the thought of asking for help sent chills up her spine. Her ego tended to make her think she could handle everything alone, but reality proved how wrong she was by sending in that Red Lantern. It took four heroes to even get him away from the city, although Ian finished him off, and precise strategies. Maybe it was a sign that a new Justice League needed to be formed. Taliana would definitely bring the thought up to Ian when she got to school. Talking about her thoughts with someone else was comforting since she was so used to keeping everything to herself. Taliana turned the water off before getting out of the shower. The siren dried off quickly to avoid that cold air from hitting her wet body. The songbird hummed lightly as she picked out an outfit for the day. "Bohemian?" Taliana laughed to herself as she rummaged through her clothes for the perfect outfit.

Taliana quickly dressed herself in a pair of multi-patterned pants, black crop top, and a pair of tassle heels. "Perfect. Maybe my spanish professor will teach me more than just the language of love." Taliana joked in reference to the atrractive, bilingual professor at the university. She took care of the rest of her morning routines before grabbing her keys to head out the door. Today was bound to hold some surprises for her; she could smell it on the warm air of the beautiful morning.

Thanks to Evie's ability to open doors to other places, he managed to cross an entire continent just by stepping through a door. After closing the door behind him, he looked around at Taliana's place. A good bit has changed since he last saw it, during one of his few times that he decided to visit her after his college days, so the surroundings were a bit unfamiliar. But as he walked through the home, several of her belongings told him that yes, he was in the right house. So Evie's trick worked.

"I'm going to have to thank her when I see her again," Jonathan answered, "But where is Taliana?"

He then looked at a clock and realized why she wasn't here: she was still in class, "Of course, that makes sense. Maybe I should give her a call and see if she's alright," Jonathan then rummaged through his stuff and after a few scares, he finally pulled it out, "Alright, now where is her number? Ah yes," he then pressed the button and dialed up Taliana's phone, "Hey Taliana, it's me. Is everything alright? My TV went on the fritz and some guy that looked like he was straight out of a Tron film just popped up, announcing his intentions to conquer the world. I'm coming over to Metropolis immediately. Just stay safe alright?"

1 Week On 16/01/2014
After The Reign of Fear and the eternity it seemed to last, time once again began to fly by like normal until eventually, a week had passed. The main areas that bore the brunt of the assault: Coast City, Metropolis and Gotham easily begun their repairs and using their experience in cleaning up after super-powered individuals shortened the process to take little time at all.

Now that it was all over, the heroes now united could return to their normal lives. They could go to school. They could work. And eventually they could go back to their duties as superheroes; what's more is that more and more Legacies also began to develop. The world was finally recovering, the Void filling.

But just as the Crystal Grave was now inscribed with the word "WEAK" across its beautiful face, more and more things began to change. The White House shuddered. The President was unsure. How was he meant to deal with the Gods Now Amongst his people again? How was he meant to reign in people so powerful that they could decimate a whole army with a shoddy construct and a misfire?

The World was on the edge of its seat...

And the Universe looked on expectantly...

The siren entered her home with after a brisk walk from the university. She closed/locked the door behind her before taking off her jacket and setting down her purse. Taliana shuffled through some mail that was sitting on her island mindlessly as she drifted into her thoughts. She was curious what her green friend was up to today that had taken his attention away from even calling her back. Maybe they weren't close enough for her to call him? Always a possibility. Or he was avoiding the inevitable which was more likely. Taliana plopped herself on the couch, mind still running, and began to gently doze off

"I want to hide the truth,

But with the beast inside,

ooc: just for quick reference - presidente & scientist lady
also, hope you don't mind the extra company. ^^;

Alistair nervously stood before the president of S.T.A.R Labs, his gaze lowered as he waited for the man to speak. It had been a week since the incident in Queensland Park, and he wasn't sure how he was going to act to his actions. The two weren't the only ones in the room either. In fact, one of the lead scientists and also Alistair's counselor of sorts, Miss Takao, stood beside the male while he sat there in his desk. He had a serious look in his eye, but still remained silent for what seemed like hours. Then finally, he broke the silence with a sigh.

"You could've handled to situation better, to say the least," he spoke, closing his eyes thoughfully. "... But you helped defeat Black Adam and the casualties were at a minimum, so that's all that matters I suppose." The president opened his eyes then, and let his gaze fall on the nervous Alistair.

"That is all. You are dismissed."

To this, Alistair couldn't help but let out a internal sigh of relief, before nodding and turning around to make his way towards the door. Miss Takao wasn't far behind and waved a quick goodbye to the president, before closing the door behind her. She caught up quickly to the teen, before turning her head to face him and smiled. "Don't let it get to you too much. He just has a lot on his mind, that's all." the woman spoke, her voice soft. "Anyway, why don't you get some fresh air? Just make sure you're back by nightfall, alright?" It was then that Alistair looked over at her, a small smile forming on his lips as he nodded.

"... Right."

Alistair was suddenly brought back to reality after replaying that scene in his mind, before realizing where he was. Slowing to a stop, he took a look around to find that he was in Miss Nightingale's neighborhood. He wasn't sure how exactly he ended up here, or why. Maybe it was because he wanted to talk to someone, he didn't know... Turning his head now though, he noticed he coincidentally stopped in front of the female's apartment. Well, there was no use in moping about, so he figured he should go and see how she was doing. And so, making his way up the stairs and towards the door, Alistair lifted his hand and knocked hoping Miss Nightingale would be home.

It's where my demons hide."

Company: Alistair
Thoughts:Finally someone who knocks!
Location: Home

[Taliana Lance][Sonokinesis][Legacy Initiative]

Taliana's eyes flitted open as the sound of knocking lulled her from her sleep. "Coming!" The siren called drowsily. Normally her company would have alerted her of their arrival so she could be more prepared. Then again, she should be used to surprise visits by this point. Taliana brushed herself off as she made haste to the door. She spoke sweetly upon opening it. "Hello, long time no see, Alistair." Taliana greeted the boyish blonde before inviting him inside. As he would come in, she would shut the door behind her. Taliana waved a hand over to her couch for him to take a seat. She headed to her kitchen and grabbed two glasses. She kept her eyes on him as she poured fresh water into the cups. "So, for what do I owe the visit, hm?" Taliana inquired. She hadn't seen the male since the incident in the park. He and that archer had fought valiantly against the hordes of enemies. That made her curious as to whether or not Alistair knew that man by name. Taliana took seat as she passed a glass of water to the swordsman.
