The air was quiet, showing no signs of life in these hallowed mountains. It seems either the rumor of the giant snake was a myth or it is merely in hiding right now. The boys had thus far completed their mission, and were to report back to the Otokage with their findings.

User ImageAfter searching the portion of the wilderness that had been assigned, Yosei still saw no sign of the giant snake that he was supposed to be hunting. "I don't think we're going to find the beast Nakamuro. It's a real shame. I was looking forward to fighting with you. Let's head back to the village." Yosei began following the iron spears back down the mountainside to where he entered the forest and made his way back to the village.

Rahenno would go--immediately--to the Rice Country. With his sense of smell, he was able to tell whether they were present or not much more quickly than Kaisen and Jin were able to search the other areas. The mountain range made up a large majority of the Rice Country. Instead of doing the searching by himself, Rahenno made four other Shadow Clones that split off in a pentagonal formation. After they had all progressed through the mountains a fair ways without picking up any scents...Rahenno dismissed them and headed out of the country. Thankfully, Rice Country wasn't as big as a lot of the other countries were.

His hood was draped over his head, eyes cold and listless as he was unable to draw memories of what he was doing last or if he was doing anything at all. He didn't know who he was anymore, even now, remember who he once was...it was difficult to gather. Lars moved to a smooth path that lead to the next area and sat himself down, lowering his hood and adjusting his hair to feel his forehead. A very vicious bruise was staining the left temple, giving it a painful purple discoloration but it seemed like he himself didn't suffer from anything more than a small concussion. Maybe he did this to himself, or maybe someone did this to him for the sake of freeing him of his bonds of remembering..

"Demon Frost"

After leaving the hidden village, well rested as well as focused on the task at hand, Hyoga set out to find and obliterate the bandits. He made his way to the mountain base. Once there he found a small town and decided to rest a bit. He had been traveling a couple of days and needed to take a break. Finding a near by eatery he decided to take a seat, see if any of the townsfolk new anything about the bandits, seeing how he kinda took the request without getting any details. in the next several hours he combed the small town asking anyone who would talk to him about the bandits. no one really wanted to talk about it, as if they feared the trouble to come from it. At that time Cunning finally chimed in. "The cowards! we're trying to help them and they impede our progress. Bandits are looting the towns and burning homes and they have fear of what may happen if they talk about? Despicable cretins." Hyoga could only smile at Cunning. Then a woman called out to him. "Are you going to deal with the bandits young man? If so i may have something that may help you." She said motioning him to follow her. Once the two were out of sight, within her small home, the woman handed him a cup of water before lacing a picture of a small boy in front of Hyoga. "That's my son, Katahiro. He went to the neighboring town north of her to get supplies for our town a week ago with the other men of the town. I haven't heard anything from the that town in the last week and fear the idea in my head. My Kata is a good boy and always does the right thing, but im afraid he has his father's warrior heart. I fear the town may have been attacked by the Bandits my Kata tried to be a hero and.....and....." The mother began to weep uncontrollably in front of Hyoga. He stood and took hold of his hand as he wiped the tears from her face, giving her a somewhat reassuring smirk. Enough with the crying lady. I'll go to the town and see what has happened. If i find your son I'll be sure to bring him home ok. The woman latched on to Hyoga. "Thank you, Thank you. You have put this mother's worry to rest." From her embrace she left the room only to return a moment later with a small box. "This knife belonged to my husband before he disappeared a year ago, please take it. I don't have much, but this is the least i can offfer you for your help." Hyoga took the chest but handed it back to her before heading to the cottage door. That's not necessary miss, keep it. This one is on the house. He said walking out the house, the mother not far behind. "The next town is about a day or two journey from her young man, please be careful." She said waving goodbye to Hyoga, Hyoga returning the wave as he ran north.

The lady was right as it took him almost two days to get to the next town. Not getting close he sat up in the trees near the village to do some recon on the town. It was far too quiet for his liking. Jolly finally chimed in Hyoga's mind. "Jolly: Hyoga, do you think the bandits found this place? I dont see anyone there." Cunning chimed over Jolly. "Cunning: its obviously a trap of some kind. I say we just go done there and start kicking in doors." Hyoga finally spoke to his alter-egos. Not just yet Cunning. I think i'll just sit and wait for now. Both egos groaned in his mind. Night fell and Hyoga nodded off a lil, only to wake to the sound of voices. Wiping his eyes he saw a group of bandit henchman in the town square. They went into one of the buildings and began dragging people out of it. As Hyoga watched he saw a familiar face. It was the boy the woman asked him to find. With out a second thought Hyoga was on the ground, ninja sprinting towards the crowd, before leaping into the air only to bring his foot to bash into the face of one of the bandits. Catching the others attention he quickly dispatched them using the Oto Boxing he had been learning. They were painfully weak in Hyoga's eyes, not to mention their fighting skills were something that needed work. Turning to the hostages he took out a kunai and began cutting the ropes that binded them. Are you all ok? He asked as he moved to free the others inside the building, the already freed hostages moving to help in the rescue effort. "Yeah thanks to you. we would have been goners if you hadn't showed up." One townsman said. He finally moved to free the boy, messing the kids hair up with his hand. He had to be no older than six, maybe seven. Your mother is quite worried about you Katahiro. You should go home and tell her you're okay. He said before standing and heading towards the town edge, leading to the base of the mountain. Katahiro followed as well as the man in charge of the transport unit sent from the other town. "You did some mighty impressive work there young man, you must be from the Otogakure? Tell me what are you going to do next?" the man inquired. Hyoga looked back and smirked as a twinkle flashed in his sharingon eye. Im going bandit hunting, make sure something like this doesn't happen again. He said as Katahiro pulled on Hyoga's belt. "I can help you find it the bandit camp. I know this mountainside like the back of my hand" Hyoga knelt down and patted the boy's head. I cant in good conscience allow you to come with me. Its far too dangerous Kata. He saind as he rose. The transport captain shook Hyoga's hand. "Be careful ninja, those bandits hit us hard, they took this towns people to their base several mile out from here, i watched them come an go long enough to map out the distance. Id say at least a three day trek even for you." With those words and a hand shake Hyoga set out in the direction given to him, leaving them to fend for themselves.

Hyoga was day 2 into his journey to find the bandit main camp, luckily for him some bandit patrols were out, which told him he was indeed getting close. Hyoga dropped down on the party of bandits and proceeded to demonlish them all, all but one as to get info from him. At this time Cunning took over. Mind telling me where your base of operations is, before is snap your neck? The Bandit spat in his face, causing Hyoga to snap his neck in the process. Searching the bodies for clues he found a small map on the party leader, detailing how to find the base and password to get into town. With that Hyoga resumed his trek, now with a clear destination.

The base sat on the slope of the mountain's base. He scoped the town out, seeing the bandits were armed with swords and weapons of all kind. infiltrating the town he decided that there was no need for stealth anymore as he was going to kill all the bandits present. Sneaking up behind a duo of guards he disarmed the one, using his weapon to kill the other, before ramming the blade into the guards chest. One of them had a kusari-gama type weapon and he felt that this would be a better fit for him, after all his family's heirloom was a sickle of sorts. With that he simply walked out into the center of the town, whistling to get the attention of the crowd of bandits in nearby buildings. I hear you boys have been rather naughty lil lambs, guess i have to send you all to slaughter now. Hyoga taunted with a cold, almost irritated expression on his face. The bandits laughed as their leader stepped out of the horde of 60 bandits. "You really think you can beat me and 60 murderous bloodthirsty bandits? Don't make me laugh kid!" he said as he gave the siganl for his men to attack. Hyoga only smirked as he raced into the horde unleashing the skill he had learned from the training his father put him thhrough. Hyoga didnt come out this farce unscathed, as he sustained cuts & slashes on his body form his amaturish kusari-gama skill. it was sometime till only Hyoga was left standing, surrounded by a town square of bandit bodies. Your turn. He said, turning to the bandit leader as he approached the man. The two engaged in combat, trading blows until they finally locked weapons. Once i kill you i can go home a well payed man. Hyoga chimed. The bandit leader smiled before overpowering Hyoga, then kneed him in the gut and kicking him to the ground. "You're good kid but not good enough, i use to be like you but aspired to be greater. It's a shame i gotta kill you, i could have use a warrior of your caliber, even if you're still a lil green."The bandit leader raised his sword, but before he could bring it down on Hyoga, he was hit in the back by a blunt object. it wasnt strong enough to take him down and in return he kicked the source of the hit. Katahiro slammed against the ground hitting his head on a rock in the process knocking him out. "Damn kid!" He yelled. Hyoga realized it was Katahiro. Katahiro you brat.......why would you come here? Hyoga stood on his feet, finally catching his breath from the attack. The bandit leader gave him an odd look. "Did you Katahiro? My son's name was Katahiro." He dropped his sword and went over to where Katahiro had landed and held him. "My....My son. What have i done?" He would hold Kata's head before the chain from the kuari-gama Hyoga was using wrapped around his neck, reeling the man into Hyoga as he struggled. Hyoga held the chain tightly placing the sickle blade to the man's neck. By killing you i'll be saving Katahiro from a world of pain by your hands. With those grim words Hyoga sliced the bandit leader's throat without a second thought. Dropping both the weapon and dead body, Hyoga picked Katahiro off the ground and left the town. He would return the boy to his mother who would continuously thank Hyoga for bringing her baby boy home, not telling her he had killed her husband who was the Bandit leader. After resting in the town that night he would awake at dawn to return home to the safety of the Otogakure.

It was peaceful and quiet, hiding the struggle below. Just as the birds were safe singing their songs high above, a small mouse below scurried from hole to hole trying to escape a wild cat. Such is the the balance of life in all things, Sumiko thought to herself as she watched the valley below. As much as she wanted to simply rescue the poor creature, that would disrupt the balance of things. She rose from a narrow ledge that overlooked the valley, returning to a small pathway through the mountains. Sumiko stopped, looking down at her robes, dusting them off before she continued. They were simple in design, just brown and grey, and just thick enough to keep the cold of the mountains out. The lone shinobi was just about to set off on her way to Otogakure when she sensed it. The birds had stopped singing, and the forest was still and quiet. Power shifted from her arms to her legs as she prepared to run. "Peace traveler, I mean no harm. But should you attack me, I will mean you harm." She said aloud. Turning to look behind her, she could already see that two men sat crouched in a bush, weapons drawn. Much to her displeasure, the only answer that she received was a kunai aimed at her head. She dropped to one knee, allowing it to pass harmlessly overhead before spinning around to grab it out of midair, spinning in a complete circle just in time to use it to deflect a second kunai that had been thrown by the other.

Obviously understanding that their prey was no simple traveler, the pair moved out of the bushes, brandishing clubs, knives, swords, and whatever other sharp object you could imagine. A knot formed in Sumiko's stomach. It wasn't from fear however, but instead from the overwhelming odor that the pair were giving off. Each one smelt like that had rolled in a pig pen and then decided to take a s**t on each other. If their weapons didn't kill her, their stench surely would. The first of the two, and obviously the 'brains' of the operation, stepped forward. "Pretty little thing ain't you. Tell ya what, drop the purse and them robes, and maybe you might get to walk away." It was only in the bright sunlight that she finally saw his face as he talked. It was instantly recognizable as a wanted bandit, with a massive price on his head. Her reply to his statement was clear enough. She flicked the kunai past his head, purposely not aiming for it. As Sumiko expected, he turned his head to watch the kunai fly by. "Not such a good shot ar----" he coughed out as her fist slammed into his chest, flames erupting from them, creating a massive burn mark on his chest. He gripped his chest, falling forward, coughing spurts of blood. Before his body was even on the ground, Sumiko had already pulled a sword free from his belt and begun to attack his lackey. Still in shock at the complete destruction of his boss, he didn't even draw his own weapon as Sumiko plunged her's into his chest. She stepped to the side, allowing his limp body to fall next to his boss who was now in his final death twitches. Sumiko knelt down, dragging the bodies into the bushes, marking the tree where they were hidden, and turned to walk back to the Sound Village for her reward.
