So, with my last post in HA, I return the status of DM to Kyle, who from here on out will be the orchestrator for the very end of the Louis arc.

I realize that this arc has been a weird ride. It's been a lot of things, not the least of which a learning experience for me and several others.

That said, thank you to everyone that stuck it out and put up with my inadequacies... and an extra special thanks to those who helped teach me those things I didn't know and offered advice on how to make things a more enjoyable experience for everyone.

Ultimately, I hope everyone enjoyed the Louis arc as a whole. I'm sorry if it may have felt rushed in the end, but unfortunately, time in real life was not on my side as in less than 7 hours I will be leaving the country and it's not clear exactly how long it will be before I have internet access again.

So, to those who are able to look past this short-coming, thank you... and to those who don't, thank you too.

Please, enjoy the remainder of the Louis arc. I look forward to reading the wonderful writing from all of you when I return. You're awesome. heart

It was one hell of an emotional roller coaster and well worth it. You have a safe journey man and looking forward to seeing you again when you come back.

So, battle has started! Some notes:

During this phase, I will be posting frequently. Like... pretty much every time someone else posts. These tendril-based posts do not indicate a new round. Believe me, you'll know when a new round starts.

Unless specifically stated, none of my actions in this first round are intended to knock you out or push you into Limit. Next round is another story, but for right now, even if you get hit hellaciously hard by most of the attacks, the intent is not for you to go down now. I'll leave it up to the players if they want to do that, however, especially if their luck is monumentally bad.

The damage numbers I list already include weakness multiplications, so you will not have to think about "Wait, do I take bonus damage for such and such reason...?". This is why, in that first attack, Earthlings and Sora/Riku stand a chance of taking greater damage.

As of my most recent post, the barrier surrounding the station has been destroyed. If you fall into it, I'll find a way to get you back into the fight... but you won't like it.

And (for now) finally,

ADDENDUM OF NOTES:

In case it's not clear, we are on a giant Station of Awakening. These typically look like this:

and this:

User Image

Rhiko described the mosaic appearance here:

Quote:
When the air cleared, they stood upon Louis' station of awakening, an odd ying and yang-like design, two bodies laid side by side, curled around each other. One, Louis, clothed in a blue and white uniform while the other lay in tattered rags, chain mail scraps, metal arm bands, and a heavy collar around his neck with black and red runic tattoos running all over the vast amounts of exposed skin.

To accommodate the fact that there are over twenty of us expected to fight a boss on this platform, it is atypically large--imagine it being roughly 40~ meters wide in diameter, in all directions.

Further, Rhiko described a unique factor that persists beyond the station in the darkness:

Quote:
There was a flash and surrounding the platform a double helix of chains, each with an sequential image shown clearly in the center of each link. The force of their passing kicked up a momentary wind that sent hair and clothes into a flurry. The passing chains in rapid motion resembled closer to that of film, playing out images of Louis, the light bearers, their enemies, their victories, their losses, their laughs, and their tears.

Their heartfelt adventures continued to fly past into the empty expanse above before colliding into a small star that rained in slow motion tiny fragments around the battlefield, each piece phasing through whatever they touched carrying with it a glimpse of memories, memories of them and the time they shared.

Now, with all that in mind, 24 tendrils have burst from the station, both from the flat mosaic we stand on and from the sides of the column, reaching up so that they can fight, as well. These tendrils are roughly two-people wide, shoulder to shoulder, at the trunk, and slowly taper off as they rise.

Further, Louis has become a black, formless abomination (with eyes and tendrils all its own) who now hovers a few stories off the ground, blocking the light from the colliding memories (though they phase through the form and continue to rain anyway).

Basically, imagine this guy.

But with the details I used.

Hello!

As the GM, I can tell you: don't fret too much about the many specifics of this fight. For instance, you'll note that every time I post, I have little TL;DR notes at the bottom summarizing the actions. But when it comes to numbers and rolls, I'm using the honor system: I'm not going to check every roll, I'm not going to make sure you take the "right" amount of damage or stun. This battle is about closure, not about contest.

So, for those who don't want to deal with numbers at all, just deal with the effects as you imagine them working against you. You know if you have good defense, and you know what sounds strong and what doesn't.

For those who want to deal with numbers, but are having trouble keeping track of everything, I put some notes down below regarding numbers, differences, and an off-site dice roller that makes multiple rolls easier.

I don't need to see your rolls for this fight, because I said, I'm not worried about them--I'm just worried about making the atmosphere appropriate for what has become, essentially, the final battle not just of the Louis Arc, but of the first Act of HA entirely.

As always, feel free to pester mods if you have questions!

Since there are going to be a lot of numbers in this battle:

Do not add up all the numbers and then compare it to your defenses. You compare each number, individually. So, for example:

Say you get hit by the 10 MAG laser and the 6 MAG blood rain, and you have 5 RES.

10 MAG vs 5 RES is a difference of 5. That's pretty big. It's not going to kill you, it's not even going to knock you into Limit, but you don't wanna take something like that too often.

6 MAG vs 5 RES? That's 1 difference. That's gonna sting, but not much else.

As far as whether or not you have lots of HP or little HP, that's your Constitution, and I basically leave it up to you to determine what that means. My suggestion is to multiply it by, say, 4 or 5, and then just subtract these differences from that. But you know your characters best when it comes to this stuff, and HP is super fickle right now >_>;;

Basically, I'm trusting you to make judges.

Also, as far as Reflexes go, I trust you guys to know when your reflexes are high enough to reasonably dodge something I describe, and unless I outright say something definitely hits, anything can be dodged.

Also, considering how many rolls there are going to be, I might recommend using this dice roller! The first main column is for how many of each die you want to roll, the second column is for any bonuses they might have, and it keeps the results neatly in the little notepad to the side.

Even better, the very bottom one is a RNG--you can put in whatever max value you want, and then however many dice you're rolling.

So, for instance, with this cannon, you had to roll 1-3. If you had 5 characters, you could make 5 posts in the thread, or you could just use this, put 3 in the first spot, 5 in the second, no modifiers, and then roll to see who got hit and who didn't.

Since we can't see the results, this uses the honor system, but given just how many rolls there are going to be, I don't mind in the least if this actually simplifies things for you guys :3

Hokay, so

Yeah, everyone is level 6. If you want, just go ahead and post your stats here. It's okay if they're not perfect--this is not the respec. The respec and shift will come during the 3-day break after this.

For now, just treat this as a normal level up. If you have 2 passive/limit stat boosters, then you should have 18 points to distribute how you please. If only 1 booster, then 19, and if none, 20. Basically, just make sure it all adds up to 92 total.

And again, you WILL get a chance to respec after this. It's just a large power boost of our current states.

Have fun biggrin

EDIT: Also, side note regarding the HA post before the battle-starter.

Did you know that "Destati" is Italian for "Awaken"? Or, more simply, "Wake up"? Fun fact biggrin

Also, just because I didn't explain it well before, when we were reviving and:
Quote:
bathed in massive bursts and swathes of prismatic color ... Their lights burst outward in rainbow streaks, enveloping their other native allies in light

I meant a sort of aura like this :
