Big Bang (빅뱅) is a Korean hip hop & R&B group composed of five members, each contributing different vocal or rapping parts. When they first debuted, they were considered to be the new face of the YG Family, a pet name for their management company YG Entertainment. Although their debut was somewhat successful, it was not until the release of "거짓말" ("Lies" wink that the group gained success. Big Bang have been noted for their music as well as their fashionable clothing, becoming famous throughout the country in the process. They also write and produce their own music.

2NE1 (투애니원 tu-aeniwon; pronounced "to anyone" or "twenty-one" wink is a popular South Korean hip hop/pop girl group formed by YG Entertainment in 2009. 2NE1 consists of four members CL, Bom, Dara, and Minzy. The group's name 2NE1 stands for "New Evolution of the 21st Century". First appearing in "Lollipop", a commercial campaign with Big Bang for LG Telecom, their debut single "Fire" was released on May 6, 2009. Since then, they have released one extended play, 2NE1, and one studio album, To Anyone. Many of their songs, "Fire", "I Don't Care", "Follow Me", "Go Away", "Can't Nobody" and "Clap Your Hands" have all hit number one in South Korea.
