If you're backfarming for Gustav's quest, chances are you'll have to take off some rings to drop your CL. If they're purple, they won't drop anything.

There is a 4% chance that an orb, gold, or loot will drop from an enemy, every time.

Make sure your CL isn't massive... If the Skeeters are too weak compared to you, they won't drop anything.

In general, the higher your CL, the less drops you get.
